Great Location, Lots of CharacterVilla Long Chang is conveniently located for visiting both the Night Bazaar and the Old Town in Chiang Mai: it's right on the main road leading to Thapae Gate, a short walk away. This means you have easy access to everything: shopping, spas, food, coffee, transport etc. This also means that it can get a bit noisy, but I personally didn't think it was too bad. The building and the rooms have lots of character. It feels more like one is staying at the house of a friend (who has good taste and an understanding of comfort) than a hotel. The rooms are spacious and very pleasantly decorated. They have high ceilings, good beds, air-conditioning and showers; of course, everything is spotlessly clean, too. I often come to Chiang Mai, and usually stay at the D2 or the Royal Princess, located in the same Night Bazaar district. However, after such a good experience at Villa Long Chang, I would definitely come back to this small, pleasant and well-located hotel. I highly recommend it!

Friendly, clean and comfortableThis was a wonderful stay in Chang Mai. The place was central, only a 10 minute stroll to the Old City Walls and the hub of Chang Mai life. The Villa Long Chang has three rooms with verandas, one on each side and another spanning both at a right degree angle, this is probably the better room. We had the room on the West side facing away from the start of the night markets. The veranda had a two seater cane setee and a small table and afforded a great view of the street below and some facinating people watching. The room itself was spacious with good air conditioning, great wifi reception and a large bathroom. The bed was large and comfortable, the furnishings more than adequate and well thought out. It had a TV, which we hardly watched as the veranda offered far better entertainment.. When we arrived, the room didn't have a kettle, but this was put right without a problem, the bar fridge contained soft drinks and water and was complimentary. The breakfast was a little different ranging from fried egg and toast to a bowl of fish soup (surprisingly nice) and on one occassion a triple decker toasted sandwich with fried egg, tuna, lettuce and mayo, it was lovely! The people who ran it were lovely, they picked us up at the airport at midnight, they took us back when we left, all this was complimentary. We borrowed their complimentry bikes and cycled to many places around the town and beyond. A good idea is to follow the Ping River, either north or south for some wonderful scenery and a look at local life. When we returned from our days out, the room was always clean and inviting, a truly great stay. Yes the traffic can be a little noisy, but it really didn't bother us. There is a good Indian restuarant just 50m from the hotel, it's basic but it's good value, tasty and friendly. There are many other places within walking distance. This place is ideally situated and was a wonderful stay

You can do better...Unfortunately we were in Chiang Mai for a whole week at the end of February 2015 and our choices of places that we could book for seven consecutive nights was basically nil, so we stayed the week in three different guest houses. Of the three, although there was nothing radically wrong with the place, it was definitely not the best value for the money. Thats all I'm saying: You can do better. All I can say is that from my own experience, by Chiang Mai (and Thailand standards), for what we got, the place was expensive. You can do better...

Very nice and quaintA little noisy, but overall a Very nice experience. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the rooms were clean and well kept. the breakfast was okay but nothing special. A Thai breakfast would have been a lovely touch. I would go back again.

Nice but is a mosquito hotspot!Lovely authentic Thai guest house. Main problem is there is a gap between the wall and ceiling in the bathroom which means that even though you can aim not to bring any of the million Mosquitos in the open hallway into the bedroom work you, they will still manage to fly in. Also there are huge gaps under the doors also. If you're not someone who gets bitten easily I would recommend, large spacious rooms and fairly comfy bed
