Never stay in this hell hole

DO NOT stay in this hell hole. It was absolutely terrible! First of all, you cannot lug you luggage here after getting of the ETNA bus from the airport. Next, you get there and they check you in-are not very friendly or personable, and you get the idea they hate working there. By looking at the hallway, you see the worn out and filthy carpet and walls. The room we got for our honeymoon was so disgusting. I tried to suck it up, we got in, couldn't fit our two weeks of luggage for two in the room, and got to the bathroom......are you kidding me??? The floor was filthy, the shower curtain touched your knees when you sat on the toilet, and it was filthy too. There was no actual shower, just a drain in the floor. We changed rooms, and it was barely better with two inches of black mold on the shower door. The balcony had garbage blowing from everyone else to our door. In the middle of the night we had to close our door because people were screaming and kids were smoking until 4am. The room smelled like sewage the entire time, and we didn't know what was worse, sewage, or the smoke constantly blowing in from our balcony that was connected to the others. When we complained, the front desk yelled at us. They were so rude and terrible and I would never send my worst enemy here. They pretend not to speak english when you have a problem and speak it perfectly every other time. We asked for directions to our next destination in Italy and didn't do it. We asked for a taxi and they did it for the wrong time. They were not only part of the problem, but made our disgusting room even worse since we felt uncomfortable.

Too bad about the bathroom.....and a hint for a hidden gem restaurant

Landed at the Hotel Villa Kristina by chance--did not expect too much for the price, given the overall cachet of Taormina. The room size was adequateand it was cute in a kind of old-fashioned way.It had a rather strange walk-in closet on the outside wall next to the balcony, so lots of storage room if needed. Etna views were spectacular! The bathroom left alot to be desired. The shower curtain was slimy and discolored--we asked to have it replaced but it was merely wiped down. Plastic shower curtains are not at all expensive so I cannot understand why this small issue could not be properly rectified. My creative boyfriend made the most of it by taking the curtain down and reversing it, clean side in!! This is a tired older hotel--smelly carpet in the elevator, no ice available on request etc. Some staff were friendly but others aloof and not always helpful. I think the 3 star allocation is undeserved., This was our second visit to Taormina and we had to make repeat visits to a restaurant which is a hidden gem. I regret that I cannot recall he name of it but it is certainly easy to find and worthwhile to visit. Family owned, it features roasted chicken served with a delicious fragrant lemon sauce. The hot table has a good variety of homestyle foods and of course customized pizzas can be ordered. It appears to be frequented primarily by locals and this traveller always percieves that to be a good sign. The bonus is that it is very inexpensive, so check it out. It is located on the side street immediately adjacent to the Porto Messina. Just walk westward up the hill to the second-last shop on your left. A few steps take you down into the little restaurant. You will love the food and the price!!

    Not really a honeymoon hotel

Great location of the hotel and all the local amenities, however we found it slightly expensive for what the hotel included. The rooms were very small and dark, which didn't impress us much. Although the balcony was a great relaxing area, the bathroom also let us down a little. Overall a great hotel and it didn't stop us seeing all of Sicily.
