Great Place to see TuscanyWe stayed 4 nights in one of the apartments while traveling with our Sister and Brother in law. The apartment was clean and large and comfortable with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, a kitchen area and a living area. (It is odd that one bedroom has no doors and is opened to the main living space--they should install doors). The grounds are beautiful, the dining room is pleasant and the staff was friendly. The parking area is large and sufficient. Driving to Sienna, Pisa and Florence was great. The one problem was the indredibly LOUD frogs in the center pond. I mean... keep you awake loud. At first we thought it was a pig or duck somewhere on the property... but it was frogs! Maid service is not included and there was a charge for asking for clean towels.

Low rent apartment and Motel 6This place was booked by a travel agency and described as staying in a luxury home with the amenities of a world class hotel! It was more like a low rent apartment and a Motel 6! We had a one bedroom apartment and even upon the first impression it was bad. Just getting to the door was an obstacle as it was down a 2' wide path with a planter and dead tree sitting in the middle. Once inside the walls looked terrible, poorly done with large stains. The furniture was cheap, stained and uncomfortable. The TV was about a 32" sitting on a small table beside the kitchen table, dented up lamp shades, etc. It was just all terribly done. They tried hard in the bathroom but failed miserably. At first, you see the bathroom is all marble tile and doesn't look too bad, but whoever planned and built the shower was an idiot. It had a rainfall showerhead up top, but it didn't work so all you had was a handheld wand on the wall facing the shower door. Mistake #1 is you don't have your shower head facing the door. Mistake #2 is you dont just put up a glass sheet, with absolutely no seals for a shower door! The first time we took a shower it flooded the bathroom. We talked to the front desk and they said the rainfall head was broken, but upon inspection, I couldn't find a diverter anywhere so it appears the head was never even connected or intended to work! In the end, we had to get about 5 extra towels and lay them at the base of the door each time we took a shower. Also found out that in May they have no A/C! They said it was a government issue and that they werent allowed to turn it on but it was funny as the hotel we had stayed in the previous week had A/C! We would have opened windows but with torn screens you couldn't keep the bugs out! The place itself is nicely sat in the hills of Tuscany and has beautiful views, the restaurant is nicely decorated and even the check-in area is pretty nice. But once you park in the gravel parking lot it isn't easy to even find the reception desk as it is across a courtyard of gravel walkways with a pond of rotting vegetation. The front entrance to the building is the entrance to their "disco" and the top wall is rotting wafer board! So sorry this is nowhere near what I would consider a 4-star hotel. Surroundings were beautiful but went way downhill from there.

Pleasant surprise for family summer breakStayed with wife and 3 young kids, 12,10 and 8. It suited us really well. We had a double room for the five of us. Room layout was a little quirky with no double bed. Bathroom had awkward shower heads and some lighting not great, but we didnt really have an issue with this. It was a solid 4 star suite, if you have expectations for 5 stars you will be disappointed. Staff were very friendly, especially Lisa on reception who helped us with a family cooking class in the restaurant which was really good. Elia ran the cooking class and was great. This class isnt really advertised, you need to ask. I read a bunch of bad reviews for this place which I think are quite unfair. The pool was great and we spent most afternoons there. Overall, it is a great location for day tours, without a car it would be difficult. We went to San Giminiamo, Florence (by train, easy to park at the station), Mill park thermal baths and the mall which is close by. Great family destination.

Villa LivingRecently I spent four days in August 2019 at the Villa Il Palagio. This Tuscan Villa was outstanding. Me and my family were very impressed with the level of service demonstrated by the entire staff. Vincent, who worked the dining room and the bar is a hardworking, young man and was extremely courteous and professional every moment of the day. On our second day I asked for a fan (helps me sleep) and the gentleman at the front desk (wish I could remember his name) bent over backwards to get me one, THANKS!!! The rooms were very clean and comfortable and after a long day of site seeing a pleasure to come back to. The grounds are well kept and the pool area is a dream. It was very quiet and comfortable. One must remember upon arrival, you are at a Villa and it is designed to be a slower way to go. Peaceful, tranquil, and pretty setting. We used the local train station which was very close and convenient. Only six minutes away. We used a local market in Rignano and also went to mass. We went to dinner at a town maybe 4 miles away and it too was awesome. I strongly recommend the Villa Il Palagio as a hub for your travels to Florence (30 minutes by train, 1 hour by Car-I suggest the train) and Pisa, as well as local towns.
