Nice place, but a few remarks are mandatoryWe spent the night in the Villa, which is an amazing hystorical building properly rerstored and decently maintained, and we opted for its largest apartment. The impact is jaw dropping, the contrast between the ancient building and the recently refurbished rooms works fine. A few things can be definitely improved though: we expected some shampoo and/or shower gel in bathrooms, some more water (I mean more than 0.75 liters for 4 adults), some complimentary coffee and on top of that we would have appreciated a higher quality breakfast, that was utterly cheap and not worth the extra cost we paid, mainly made of plain, preserved and packaged industrial food. The area is world-famous for excellent food and wine, the location is quaint and elegant, it's been inappropriate and disappointing and to get so ordinary supermarket stuff.

Beautiful, Quiet and Wow what a viewA lovely spacious welcoming Huge Villa complex but still maintaining its privacy for individuals. Lovely garden walks but you need a car. Rooms are old but clean and no issue with size for a family of four. No problem cooking or not having all the right tools for the job. Indoor and outdoor pools..be warned not heated at all... Freezing is an understatement but then we were in May and the region had not had great weather so i am sure in the summer it will be a lovely feeling in the hot sun. The View is AMAZING.

Awful tourist trap! Avoid! Avoid! We booked for 3 nights at a villa in Villa Guinigi Borgo di Matraia. I had already read some doubtful reviews and should have known better, but we booked the week before with little remaining choice available. What a mistake! Upon arrival, we were finally brought to a room by Lorenzo for which we had paid more than Euro 400 per night. It was a dungeon or a jail, stuffy, old and basic. Both air conditionings units did not work, so it was incredibly hot and humid. The managers were aware, but had not informed me. We had obviously booked a villa with air conditioning considering that it was August. After 2.5 hours, we were offered another room which you could not rent out for Euro100. The pictures on the site look beautiful, but the rooms and service are awful. The surrounding and views are gorgeous, but there are so many much better places to stay in Lucca. This place is a dump with an overcrowded swimming pool. We eventually spoke to the owner (?). She was awfully rude. No surprise that service standards were so terrible. We eventually booked somewhere else. AirBnB was great, but dont book here if you like to enjoy your holidays.

Villa GuinigiWe stayed here as part of our honeymoon travelling through mainland Italy. The owner/manager was very kind and wonderful to us, very helpful and good communication. We were made very welcome and our apartment was beautiful; very clean, had everything we needed even miniature luxury bottles of shower gel, shampoo etc. From what we saw the Villa has been very beautifully restored, and the location is quietly tucked away up the hill so you have the most stunning views but yet its only a 10-15 minutes drive into the very charming walled city of Lucca. We only wish we could have stayed longer!

Amazing Views1 Great Villa complex! We had the pleasure of staying in Villa Guinigi in August 2020 and meeting Lorenzo who was lovely and very helpful! We were upgraded to a luxury apartment in the main Villa (Botticelli), after originally booking the Borgo. The apartment was on the top floor and had amazing views, was very spacious, 2 massive double bedrooms and a 3rd on a mezzanine. The pool area was very nice and the view amazing, it was well used and had a nice atmosphere with children having fun. There are a number of very good local restaurants, with many more in Lucca which is a 20 minute drive away. It would have been nice to have a bar/restaurant on site to admire the view with a glass of Chianti! There is a small local shop a few minutes walk away that sells basics. The local area is beautiful! We really liked it here and would definitely stay again.
