HolidayGreat location spotlessly clean 15 - 20 minutes into Porec by roadtrain. Meals plentiful and lots to choose from. We went middle of May and disappointed there was no entertainment. Situated in lovely grounds lush pine trees (watch your heads).

Stunning LocationStunning location, great amenities - beach areas are particularly good - plus super efficient and friendly staff. So why only 3 stars? Firstly rooms are in serious need of updating - the cabin/bungalow feel is nice but the interiors are circa 1990s - especially the bathrooms. Secondly the half-board arrangement is fine but the food is hit and miss, particularly if you are a vegetarian. With some effort this could be a really great and special hotel, especially for families.

Dangerously unmaintained hotel in a paradise natureThe goal of this post is to initiate a proper public investigation of the hotel safety and advice tourists especially with kids to avoid attendance of such places. As strangely as it sounds, on August, 8th a door between two rooms of our residence fell on an arm of my two-year-old daughter who was trying to close it hurting her physically (luckily not severely) and emotionally. I prefer not to think what would have happened if it fell 10 cm to the left. I am attaching the pictures of this disastrous event. No words can describe my feelings as a father about such an event. I just failed to understand how this could have happened at a property of a standard Galijot claims to be. However, observing the reaction of the hotel staff, I find more and more logic that this happened and unfortunately may happen here in the future if proper actions are not taken. In particular, saying that we have an emergency in our room, I had to wait in the line at the reception where 3 staff members were doing something, apparently more urgent. When I had a chance to speak with them, I was not offered any medical help neither did I get a chance to speak with someone more senior. All they could do was to say they are sorry. According to reception staff, I would be able to speak with their manager in 3-4 hours. Im sure if I didnt shout at them, that would have been the end of the story. They were trying to comfort me with «things happen» logic. Nobody even bothered to visit our room. They sent a technician who carried away the door. Ultimately the manager showed up in 30-40 min and actually she was the first reasonable person, asking if we needed any help, etc. We agreed that she will make sure that reception staff get trained on such situations and there will be an investigation of the technical side. Later that day I even got a fruit platter from the hotel. Yet another proof how «serious» they are about this incident. Now, three days later, having heard nothing more from the hotel, I think that at the very least: 1) reception staff should be trained and the report on that made public 2) an investigation of the reasons for this event should be conducted and made public. Clear procedures on room safety checks should be introduced and made public 3) a donation comparable to the cost of our stay should be made to a charity of the choice of the hotel. I can forget smelly air conditioning and carpets that are older than most visitors but safety can not take any compromises. I am attaching a picture of a bulb next to a shower now that shows that even after all the above nobody even checked our room. It is a real pity that such a blessed with nature location is discredited with an incompetent management.

Beautiful and well-located, comfort could be improvedWe spent a week at Plava Laguna. The location was stunning, with easy access to the beach and coastal path and the grounds were kept scrupulously clean and tidy. We found the staff to be very helpful and extremely hard working. I had made a mistake in booking, getting mixed between the villa (which I thought were the individual buildings in the grounds) and apartments (which I thought were the split level rooms) - these are in fact the other way around so we ended up in the villa by mistake. That actually worked better for us, with a split level room with the childrens' beds in a (fully enclosed) mezzanine. Some of the apartments are likely to be affected by noise if near the playgrounds in particular (lots of children were running around having fun). The rooms were also kept very clean and tidy, but there was a lot of noise from the plumbing from other rooms, meaning we needed to sleep with ear plugs. It would have been nice to have the option for extra pillows, as each bed only has one fairly thin pillow provided, making it difficult to sit up in bed if you wanted to read, or watch tv etc. The mattresses are also fairly hard, which is good for some but not to everyone's comfort. Overall, a beautiful location with helpful staff, good food and reasonably-priced drinks, with a lovely beach area, but bring earplugs.
