Idyllic SplendourMy partner Mike and I stayed at the Villa Eliza from 27/6 for 2 weeks. We cannot fault the hospitality. Lucia is unique. A caring lady with a punchy personality. Our room (no. 12) had a wonderful view whilst maintaining an element of privacy. The room was extremely clean with all the basic facilities you need inc. toaster, fridge with freezer compartment etc. Most mornings Cilla, the house maid, tapped on the door handing eggs, tangerines, pears and other gifts fresh from the surrounding trees. The location is perfect. A steady 5 minute stroll down to the beach, a small handful of tavernas and a supermarket. A further few minutes walk leads you to the centre of Skala where you are spoilt for choice. Mike and I will most definitely be returning to Skala and Villa Eliza very soon. P.s. Thank you for the marmalade Lucia xx

Quiet but close enough to everythingJust returned from Villa Eliza and was thoroughly satisfied with the property. Hosts were very friendly. A regular delivery of a couple of fresh eggs and cake makes this even more endearing. The rooms are typically basic but very comfortable. Great view of the sea allowed me to decide if it was too choppy to go diving or to sit by the pool until things calmed. The property has a nice pool and only a small kiosk for poolside drinks and is only open until around 7pm but with the few people there it would not warrant being open longer. The room was cleaned thoroughly every day and towels and linen changed regularly. It is not all sweetness and light though. The points that were niggly although not a problem was that the hot water was not always working. Fine in the summer but could see it as a problem if the weather was cooler. More of a problem for a softy like me that likes to shave in hot water but more for the washing up. It would be nice if there were some basic condiments included even if only to get you started for cooking and feel there should be stuff for washing and drying up after cooking. It makes it quite difficult when you first arrive to source tea towels etc. Internet connection is very sketchy and there are only 2 channels on the TV but I didn't expect hi-tec when I booked. For those less mobile a car would be very useful as the walk back to the property gets quite steep at the end. There were far more positives for me than negatives and if I went back to Kefalonia would stay there again. Thanks for a lovely stay and the homemade marmalade departure gift is very tasty!

Lovely but room for improvementWe stayed in room 16 with dual aspect sea views and functioning air conditioning. The pool and gardens are lovely and the location is great. The bed was spacious and comfortable. However this idyll was spoiled by a lack of hot water, poor kitchen facilities, non functioning TV and WIFI . We had to request some basics like an electric kettle and iron and ironing board. The price of this accommodation was twice what we paid on other Greek islands on this trip, so we were disappointed with the quality. Our sheets and towels were not changed during our 5 night stay and our room was not cleaned everyday. Plenty of room for improvement if the owner upped her game and shouted less it could be wonderful.

Heaven on EarthMe and my husband had an amazing stay at Villa Eliza in June 2017. When we arrived and saw the villa and its surroundings we knew it was love from the first sight! The room was very spacious and nicely designed. We had the most comfortable bed we have ever slept in while in Greece! Our room was overlooking the sea and the garden. The villa is located on the hill in a very quiet area. It's surrounded by olive and lemon trees, flowers and vegetables. The owners also have a mini farm with a cute baby goat! It was our little paradise. We can't remember when we had such a relaxing time! It was the very first time for a long time when we could actually switch off and chill out. The owner, the older lady was very kind and every day we had some fresh eggs and marmalade for breakfast. We couldn't fault anything and we will definitely come back to Villa Eliza!

Better quality reqired.Positivt - The apartments look very nice from the outside, the gardens are pleasant and well kept. Nice sea view over pool. The pool and pool area cleaned every day. Negative - No sink plugs in kitchen or bathroom, no fire/smoke alarm, no dish cloth or tea towel, no toilet paper, no washing up liquid, no shower curtain and lead to the whole bathroom getting wet. Unprotected electrical threads were coming out of the wall next to the shower in the bathroom. The furniture, bathroom and kitchen equipment were old / outdated and barely working (probably late 60s). The room door lock had a malfunction. Despite repeated requests to fix it, not repaired after 2 weeks. The door lock problem made it difficult to vacate room in an emergency (like under the wildfire recently). No reception. Only contact was pool bar keeper. More often than not the bar was closed and no fixed opening times. Room was very dated and very tired. Weak lights/lamps, needed a torch to read in bed. WIFI is virtually non-existent throughout the area, cuts out all the time. Remote control to AC is excluded and if you need it you will receive an additional fee of 35 euros per week! Airtours (Sweden) refer to this as 3 star hotel and Tripadvisor as a 2 star. NEITHER is true! Eliza Hotel doesnt qualify as a 1 star accommodation according to the Greek Hotel rating system. Ratings (stars) are often used to classify hotels according to their quality, on basic facilities that can be expected and with focus on the hotel experience as a whole. Better quality and service is required and needed. Will not stay here again !!!
