    Ummmmm

Loved this place, nice quiet hotel, decent room with an excellent breakfast, just annoyed that the day before our flight, we had booked a boat trip, so would not have been able to phone to confirm our transfer time, the paperwork that I got from the transfer company said to check with hotel reception for our transfer back to airport, so asked at reception and went off for the day when I got back after 6 in the evening, they said they couldn't phone it because it wasn't a company that was known to them( which it was) and the real reason was that we had for the last 2 nights bought our own drink and drank it in our room, bearing in mind we had been drinking in their bar and buying staff drinks, anyway couldn't get through to transfer on day we were due and had to phone emergency number in uk, didn't have anywhere safe to leave our cases after we checked, considering we were not been 21:20 in the evening, just on the take

A pleasant surprise in a strange time

We had booked to go to Tigaki prior to the outbreak of COVID, and rather than cancel we wanted to get away and to find a place where we felt safe. We had been offered a refund or to move our stay to another resort etc but decided to come to Kos as, at the time, there were only 1 or 2 confirmed cases. Initially we had booked to go to Kalloudis Studios who didn't open for the dates which we had booked. As a result of their failure to open, we were left with the last minute challenge of changing hotel, and we chose here. This was advertised as all inclusive, which I've never been a lover of as I find them to be a little impersonal and I prefer the family run hotels. What a pleasant surprise we had when we were met by the entire family sitting, drinking and chatting in the bar area. Just as I thought maybe that was just some guests, that the owner comes over grabs the bags and leads us to our rooms. I should also stress at this point that we were tested for COVID at the airport and that the staff here checked our temperature before we entered the building. The next mis-judgement was that all-inclusives are all just mass produced buffet food mostly just including chips, pizza and scraps of salad........ we were served freshly cooked meals and it was all really good!! The owners took real pride in their food and service, and rightfully so. We like to go out and visit the town wherever we go, and decided to eat out a couple of times. This was solely to experience Tigakis other tavernas, and the family really wanted to make sure we were happy and that this was the only reason. So much so, we advised that they made us a massive platter of Gyros one night after asking what we wanted that night. It was fantastic. The only real reason I've marked it down slightly from 5 to 4 stars was that the hotel was clearly in a period of transition. We had 2 rooms in the main building and one was quite dated with only 1 power point. In these times of mobiles, tablets etc, sadly this just isn't sufficient. The pool had an issue with the pump during our stay too, and it started to go a little green. The owners must have worked overnight, as the next morning the pool and water were immaculate again. It was no problem as we love the beach anyway, and this was the reason we came to Tigaki. The family feel of the place was a welcome surprise. From the family to the staff, they were all lovely and the stay was just what we needed. Thank you. Watching the boys try and feed and water Babys (the family dog) was a howl too. They may as well have hosed themselves down during the process, it would have made them less wet. Upon our departure we confirmed that our collection time was quite late. We payed a nominal fee to keep the rooms on for the rest of the day so we could get washed and keep the bags safe etc. The final day was a real treat too. After chatting to the owner he confirmed that he also had a field of olive trees and gave us some of his olive oil to take home. The oil, along with his jams, were delicious too. It seems to be his true passion. For the price we paid, this was an absolute bargain, which is where I think my suspicions arose. All of my expectations were blown away, thank you all so much.
