  The worst experience in Montenegro

  We booked a room via airbnb. There were a few nice pictures of the Hotel with view of the sea. And what we got. A room in the basement. It was terrible. There was a "window" and we unfortunately opened it. There was a wall by half meter from the window. This was the nice view. But the worst part was the bathroom. Dirty, stinky, disgusting. By the way the hotel has these rooms with beautiful view, but the ad was misleading, and if we would have known what we got instead of the advertised rooms we wouldn't have booked it or we would have paid more for a decent accom.

  In early March my wife and I literally stumbled upon Vila Aleksandar in the dark. They were not totally expecting guests but Aleksandar welcomed us and gave us a great room with a large sea view balcony. They have very secure free parking and a nice breakfast included. The only drawback is the owners limited English but they are charming and easily navigate around the language barrier. The Vila is located right on the city boardwalk along the bay with swimming close by as well as cafes, bars, and restaurants.

  great location, great people, old furnishings

  We loved the beach location and all the flora in and around the hotel. We could hear the sea during our stay in the room, which was okay, however the heating was not functioning (we got a portable heater to help out with this problem) and the furnishings and fittings in the room are a bit outdated and would need a good renovation. The bed mattress was very soft for us, however we could see that there are renovation works going on in the hotel so hopefully these issues will also be solved. :) Staff were very nice and welcoming and we got a tasty and rich breakfast in the morning.

  As good as it gets in Herceg Novi!

  Great location - 10 feet - 3 meters from the sea - do not have to pay for beach chairs or umbrella, walk 10 steps and lay on the balcony. Small but functional pool - home made breakfast that is to be eaten at the balcony with the best view in the Boka Kotorska - it really doesn't get nay better. Very pleasant service, owners are super tentative and the price for the value is exceptional. Stayed there 4 nights, Swedish table style breakfast, more than one can imagine - every day hand made items from local cuisine, in addition to usual suspects (eggs, frankfurters, cereal, milk, coffee, etc,,,) Our bedroom had an exceptional view - huge balcony directly above the sea, highly recommend. Highly recommend

  Music Every Summer in its Restaurant Aquarius

  We keep looking for folk music in Herceg Novi every summer. Yachting Club used to have great performances by Daniluska group with great singer Ivushka for many years. When they stopped coming we switched to Aquarius restaurant on the beach in front of Vila Aleksandar. Kudos to the owner! They always have music there. Pljevaljski Tamburasi were the best but I would like to see next summer the group Tamburica 5 from Belgrade that has been performing in Dva Jelena restaurant in Skadarlija for over 20 years. They kept that restaurant full for decades and can do the same in Herceg Novi which deserves it.
