OverpricedThe hotel is nice and our family room was spacious. I liked the rustic design and colors (except the green carpet...). The premium we paid for "Südseite" was, however, unnecessary. The service was friendly and professional but not very warm or welcoming. That's probably due to the size, as this hotel is rather big. And there is no lake-view. Breakfast was really good: Variety, offerings, quality and even the service (despite it being very busy in August and to the rush hours in the morning). What's not so great is the price. No appointments available for treatments, crowded pool because it's the busy season and you have to pay the premium for the that anyway. Lastly the dinner in "Am Kachelofen" was quite disappointing. More formal than the Panorama restaurant, higher prices (23 Euro for a Schnitzel) and tiny portions. 3 times a drink was forgotten. When the light suddenly went off, it took about 1 minute for somebody to come into the restaurant and reset the breaker switch. Paying took a very long time and for none of their issues there was any apology or even an embarrassed smirk. The food was acceptable but not for the price (neither in Euros nor by having to endure their pretentious service).

A wonderful escapeI stayed at this hotel alone as part of a conference which was hosted by the hotel. As I arrived in the hotel, a pianist was playing in the lobby, receptionists were friendly and spoke very clear English; a very pleasant reception. The room was absolutely pristine, and had been redecorated recently. Very spacious, and as I opened the balcony doors it was absolutely silent outside. The bed was very comfortable. The conference I attended was catered as a buffet each lunch and evening, and there was always an ample selection of very good quality food to choose from in three courses. Breakfast also offers a huge selection for everyone. I especially liked that a separate selection catered for children as well. I did use the pool one morning, and the facilities are lovely and very clean. Dressing gown, slippers and towels are provided in your room in a useful basket you can take to the pool with you. It appears that there are lots of wellness treatments available although I didnt have time to try any. My only problem was getting to the pool, which is through a single door using your room key card to enter - I had to ask at the wellness desk right next to it if I was going the right way! The only problems I had during my stay were - finding my way around (a huge hotel with staircases in all directions), and lots of different levels - there was a note in the bathroom stating that if you were willing to reuse towels it would help the environment. Im glad more hotels are taking note of this. However even though I left my towel hung up on the towel rail, it was replaced every day, as was the bath mat. How else was I supposed to indicate that I wanted to reuse them? Also the soap bar in the bathroom was replaced every day which I thought was very wasteful as I had maybe used it once or twice before it was removed. Overall, a very pleasant stay and I would definitely recommend this hotel for business and pleasure. There are some beautiful walks nearby, including up to a viewing tower up the hill from the hotel, and activities on Lake Schluchsee and Lake Titisee.

Business trip as a guest of Anders STIHLOn the way to Switzerland, I have stayed this hotel for one night. Actually i found its a Resort rather than a Hotel. What a fantastic view and location i will never forget. Room and swimming pool are really great. Food is great. I think its a best place to stay with family.
