A valued stayVienna Hotel is a very comfortable, clean and reasonably priced hotel. Lovely bed, and good shower. The included breakfast is decent if you like Chinese fare. Very good location, and walking distance from malls, shops, and restuarants. Always use this hotel for weekends in Shantou. A very big hotel, so no need to book in advance.

Mold and filthy carpetWe booked this hotel based on a glowing review. But upon arriving there, I took a shower and found out quickly that the carpet in the living room was soaking wet. Upon close inspection, the bathroom / living room glass window was not sealed properly and hence the water leak. Apparently this has been a recurring problem as I saw multiple patches. And then we noticed mold in the living room! We complained and got another room on the same floor. This time there was no water leak but the carpet was just filthy and the walls were water stained. This hotel is the pit.

Dont StayThe Hotel had been booked by our Chinese Office, On arrival they could not find the booking. They say the speak English, rubbish no one spoke English, they say they accept all credit cards, they don't, they only accept mainland Chinese. Our driver had to pay the room or else by cash only! They say they don't do breakfast but for us would do, forget it terrible! Everyone smokes everywhere even in the lifts. My bedroom stank of smoke, so much for non smoker!! Carpet was filthy! On whole this hotel was one of the worst I have ever stayed in.

Nice hotel on busy streetThis hotel has been selected for me on by our business partners and overall its a good choice. The rooms are reasonably sized with a mix of traditional furniture (with some wear on the upholstery) and modern amenities. Depending on your Chinese the thermostat can be a bit overly complicated. The massage chair is a wonderful detail, if you can figure out how to turn it on. The shower has an unusual glass wall (with optional shade on the outside) if youre comfortable sharing with your partner. Then again, for single occupants its just different. The breakfast was included and is typical Chinese. Sensitive American taste buds may not find much here. For me it was fine, although certainly not the highlight of the hotel by Chinese standards either. Try to ask for a room not facing the busy street if the associated noise is a problem. The beds are firm and it depends on your personal preference if thats good or not.

Cheap and inaccessibleHotel does not have a shuttle bus to airport and you have to walk 20min to another hotel to reach shuttle bus. Its practically impossible to get a taxi (or in the local language didi) if you do not have any local apps such as WeChat with a local bank account. Hotel reception was quite unhelpful and do not book a taxi for guest. Fortunately the concierge person offered the shuttle bus solution and I started walking after failing to get a taxi for the 30min. There is a nice massage and cheap massage parlour on the second floor.
