The perfect choiceWhere I always stay when I go to Metsovo. It's a beautiful, traditional building, with thick stone walls (cool in summer, warm in winter), slate roofs, brightly-coloured rugs, and glorious views southwards over the valley to the Pindos range. Exceptionally friendly people and very good cooking, with local specialities - try the "trahanas" soup ! And it's in an ideal position, especially if you have a car, just out of the centre, where the narrow streets often get bunged up with tourist coaches. So perfect peace, and it's easy to get out if you want to go to Ioannina for the day, or Milea, or Meteora, or the paradise of the Valia Calda. Chaliki's a lovely little village too, if the road's open and you aren't afraid of the Pindos bears that live on the mountain.

Very good value - friendly staffThis hotel, located at the entrance of the town of Metsovo, is very good for the advertised 3 stars. It has a very convenient location, swimming pool, comfortable rooms with fireplace - very clean and cosy. Breakfast is simply excellent. Hotel Victoria provides very good value and would definitely visit again.

Definitely 3 star hotel with very enthusiastic owner but best if you speak GreekThe owner is v enthusiastic and really does his best to help you as much as he possibly can. It's definitely a 3 star so dont expect more but the owner really does as much as he can to help you. It's quite a long walk into town, probably 20 mins downhill but then you would have to climb back up. We had a car and parking in town is easy. Swimming pool is kept nicely and has some nice sunbeds. Breakfast is standard Greek hotel fare. Only the owner speaks any English. He seems to work long hours but when he is out it is impossible to communicate with anybody else. They speak absolutely no English whatsoever. That is not a crime after all the hotel is in Greece but you may want to know that before you book if you dont speak any Greek. The owner's English is limited but we were able to communicate in French.

Wish I'd stayed longerThis was one of the many places I stayed while in Greece for a month. Unfortunately we were only here one night, because I would have loved to stay longer. The town is very charming and not too far from the hotel - it is about a 10 minute walk with some hills, though. I didn't get to utilize the hotel's pool, sauna or jacuzzi but they all looked very clean and the pool had a great view. The breakfast was simple, but the yogurt and homemade jams were enough to make me very happy. There is also a deck by the dining room with stellar views. The staff definitely made it feel like home for us.

Nice smiles, bad hotelThe manager, desk clerk and staff were helpful and friendly, but sadly that's the only positive thing we can say about this hotel. The breakfast was bad, the room was cold and the heating was turned off during the night to save money. We paid 3 euros for a cup of tea in the bar and the room was shabby and in need of a coat of paint and new furniture. Look elsewhere for accommodation in this pretty village.
