It's OK.The hotel is near the China town and supermarket, so it's quite convenient. There is smoking smell in the room. My sister said the toilet is small and she felt uncomfortable when sitting on it.(Though I think it's okay)

At first a little worn, but .....I stayed here a couple of times over the last year and this review is not based on a single stay. Arriving in Nagasaki is easy, either by flying direct to Nagasaki airport or getting there by bus or train. Even if few taxidrivers speak little bordering to no english everybody is more than willing to help and everybody knows Victoria Inn. At arrival at Victoria Inn your first impression will most likely be "Hmmmmm, did I really book this", but rest assured, once inside you will be met by an overly friendly and competent staff who will jump through hoops to make your stay perfect. Rooms are ok, actually big for this class of hotels in Japan and I would recommend it for a family stay in Nagasaki. Please remember that in Japan you pay per person in the room so when you book the room please make sure that you enter the correct number of persons who will be staying in the room. I stayed here a couple of times before I realized that you could get breakfast in the restaurant on the 2nd floor, the breakfast is mostly catering to Japanese guests but with the increasing number of foreign guests, they now also cater for foreigners. Be prepared to use a credit card during check in or pay for the whole stay up front, this is SOP in Japan. There is a number of things which you must see when staying in Nagasaki, The atomic bomb museum is absolutely the first thing to see, it made me very thoughtful and humble to actually stand at the very spot where the bomb exploded right above in 1945 ! Another site to pay a visit could be "Battleship Island" which is the location used in a scene in the James Bond movie Skyfall, be prepared to spend around ½-a-day for this tour. Restaurants are many and goes from cheap to extravagant expensive, please realise that you pay for what you get and you get what you pay for, simple as that. Nagasaki (and all of Japan for that matter) is very clean and tidy, dont get surprised if one morning you see a lot of office staff on suits and ties, picking up stuff and sweeping the pavement, this is only natural as everybody wants to have their "part of the street" look perfect. If you loose something, just contact the police, chances are better than very good that someone handed your items into the lost and found department. Ihope that this review helps you decide which hotel to stay at.

Highly recommended for sightseeing/lantern festivalExcellent location, walking distance to Chinatown, restaurants, entertainment, etc. Slightly dated but very clean rooms. Healthy and delicious breakfast with lots of variety, a cut above the typical business hotel menu.

Friendly and ConvenientI enjoyed my stay at this hotel. It is average in terms of room but what made me rate is the friendliness of staff and the convenience of location. I literally just used this room to just sleep. Staff are really helpful and friendly. They speak and understand English. They also have the discount card for the Nagasaki Ropeway ride. Ask them for it when you're going and that will save you 50% (as I recall). The convenience of this hotel is that it is close to tram stops and bus stops which you can use to go to the places of your interest. The hotel is also located very near Chinatown, a supermarket and the arcade. I would stay at this hotel again.

Spoiled by cigarette smellThe hotel is well located for the Tram which is the main transport around Nagasaki and there are good restaurants, coffee shops (try Caffe Veloce) and convenience stores nearby in the lanes. The room was also one of the biggest we stayed in. But a heavy downside for us was the cigarette smoke smell in the reception area because of its proximity to the bar where smoking is allowed. The bar itself looked great but we didn't use it, or take the breakfast option because of the smell. If it wasn't for this I would definitely have rated it higher.
