  Excellent place for a stop over

  We found this hotel following an amazingly picturesque road. The place is just great. There is a spacious parking and a cozy restaurant with a big open terrace. Carpeted rooms are not very big or modern, but very neat and spotlessly clean. Double bed is comfortable, with good quality bed linen, and two mattresses. Room has everything you need, but sadly no fridge. You also get two bottles of mineral water upon arrival in the room. Bathroom is very clean, a shower with a strong water pressure, soap dispenser, free toiletries, a hairdryer. The only thing we didn't like about the room: the shelf above the bed's headpiece with bed lights hidden in it. You can not really sit in the bed, resting your back against the headpiece, as the shelf is too low, and if you want to lie down and read, the lights shine right in your eyes. But that's really a minor issue. Gentlemen at reception were very helpful and friendly, great service at check-in and check-out. Breakfast room is next to reception, it's very elegant and looks like it was renovated just yesterday. Breakfast is enjoyable, you can find all you need and of a very high quality. They serve eggs on request. Croissants were delicious, better than in some French places. Restaurant is on the ground floor, very cozy, beautiful design and the food was simple, yet delicious. They do have an English menu. Waiters are friendly and helpful. Note that the payments in restaurant are handled separately and can not be added to the room. There is a nice small river behind the hotel and a fishing pond. Fifty meters further there is a forest, with a distinct road and some trails, just perfect for a relaxing morning or evening stroll. We spotted a deer and squirrels there. The forest also borders a few pastures. Lovely place for a weekend break.

  Look out!

  Never book this hotel via third party (booking.com e.g.) because this hotel lets you pay for a de luxe room (115-120 EUR) and give you a standard room (normal price 98 EUR) because as they say themselves 'you have to pay for the commission for booking.com'. For this price you get a small but clean room with outdated furniture, a very small bed and an even smaller bathroom (one plus point: you cannot fall from the toilet as you are squeezed between the wall and the shower). Food is good, but not special, not as special as the price you pay for it. For that price you would expect better in Germany...

  Great hotel

  Bed and breakfast type hotel no room service available no food available after 12pm till 5pm as the restaurant doesnt open during that time owner is a true gentleman and gives personal attention family owned property good food..rather great food limited choice

  Room not up to expectations

  Hotel looks nice on the outside, but our room was small and old fashioned. Absolutely not worth the money we paid for it. Bathroom was badly designed and very small with a very, very tight shower cabin. Only recommendable if you feel nostalgic and want to see what a hotel room looked like 30 years ago (beige). On the upside breakfast was good.

  Business Trip

  Yhis hotel was perfect for my quick business to visit a factory in Stolberg. The staff were so helpful, ironing my work clothes after my long flight from Australia. The taxi back from the factory did not accept credit cards, however the restaurant staff were able to lend me 10 euros out of the till and bill it to my room. The room was old but adequate - I thought my room was spacious. Breakfast was great with a sufficient variety. Food was fresh and tasty. I did not like smokers fumes coming in from the balcony on the second morning - but that is Europe. I ate at night in the restaurant. After reading other reviews I tried the steak with ham and cheese. It was nice, but too much food. The service was impeccable. I would stay here again for a short stopover. Thank you to the wonderful staff!
