Decent hotel but not convinced it should be #1 on Tripadvisor for the area

Stayed as a family of four for seven nights. Wed initially booked in for a six night stay but we had to request the hotel for an additional night after our itinerary changed. Hotel refused to provide the additional night at the same rate as a goodwill, despite that we were already having a long stay. The other hotel we booked in Japan readily extended our stay at the same rate. The hotel is very close to Nakajima Park station and its less than a minute walk away. The subway does get crowded during weekday peak hour mornings in the direction of Odori Park and Sapporo stations though. There are just a small handful of restaurants in the immediate vicinity of the hotel: an Italian restaurant, and three or so Ramen joints. The large numbers of dining establishments are all clustered from the Susukino area onwards, and that involves at least quite a bit more walking. There are three convenience stores all within 1-2 minutes walk of the hotel if you'd like to take-out something simple. Our double room was small and a fairly tight squeeze for two adults and two children. Decor and styling was bland with little attempt at cheering the place up, whether its in terms of use of aesthetic carpentry and woodwork, or even color palette. Sleep quality was OK, but nothing fantastic. The pillow is of an unusual design, and its internals comprise two different types of filler material, and thus supporting different sleeping postures. The complimentary beverage corner on the ground floor operating hours are 2PM to 11PM everyday was a really nice bonus that we availed ourselves to every day. Theres an in-hotel laundromat, with separate machines for washers and dryers. They are coin-operated and not on the house. The breakfast that everyone comments about on Tripadvisor: there's a decent range, so if youre one of those breakfast diners who want little bits of every item type, the breakfast buffet spread wont disappoint you. If youre hoping for one or two signature items for your palette though, you might not find it as the items were OK but not particularly memorable. Theres more than sufficient seating capacity too in the restaurant, and tables get cleared and readied again speedily. In all, we enjoyed this stay but our expectations were also very high given this property's ranking on Tripadvisor. It's a decent enough place, but whether it's the best in the area, well, we're less convinced.

    4.5 star stay

I chose this hotel because it was top rated on TripAdvisor. While it was a good stay, a solid 4.5 star stay with some nice amenities, it had a few drawbacks: Pros: - great breakfast buffet. Everyone has said this but it bears repeating. Fresh sushi grade fish, western options as well as lots of Japanese options, several kinds of breads and rolls, several beverage choices, mini desserts, the gamut. - nice freebies like hand warmers (needed in winter) and lotions - pretty good location. If youre going to the airport, the airport bus picks up right outside. If youre coming from the airport, it drops off a few blocks away. Note - only certain airport buses drop off near the hotel and Nakajima park. If you arrive after 5pm, chances are youll be dropped off in Suskino instead, which is a 10-15 min walk away. The location is both a pro and a con but more pro. 10 mins walk to the main downtown area and 15 mins walk to odori park. Right near Nakajima subway station as well if you dont want to walk. So youre near the action but not right in it. Could be a plus for some, minus for those who want to stay lit a little later or be surrounded by lots of restaurants and bars (Vessel isnt - but there is a great izakaya right on the same block that serves tasty bbq lamb). Cons: - small room. Yes, you hear people complaining of small rooms through japan. Im from nyc so used to small spaces. But this was small even for us (two small Asians). It was fine for a 3-4 night stay but others may be less fine with the lack of living space. Just a double bed pushed up against a wall and a tiny amount of space at the foot of the bed and along one side. Really prompts you not to eat too much at the buffet! Overall, Id stay here again as we are the kind of travelers for whom space is less of an issue. But others may want to keep this in consideration.

    Excelente hotel.

    Very impressed

Stayed here recently for 3 nights with my wife and totally impressed with the hotel. Everything about the hotel was top class. The buffet breakfast is everything other reviewers say it is - wide choice, good quality and stations quickly replenished (of course leans more towards Japanese cuisine). Staff, especially at the the front desk just cant do enough for you. Big thanks to Ms Kyo (Tyo ?) who even walked us to a nearby restaurant in the snow one evening!!! In terms of room, we stayed in premier twin which was very spacious with decent sized bathroom. Location-wise also excellent as it is only a 1-2min walk from Nakajimakoen subway station. Would definitely stay here again.

Best hotel in Sapporo(Nakajima Koen station)

Recently I have visited Sapporo with my friends. I stayed at this hotel for 2 days and found extremely nice hotel with very helpful staff, service and great breakfast. If I ever come back to Sapporo I will definitely go there again.
