Old but not veneratedTwo things are positive for this hotel: 1) Its riverside location on the Nam Khong River, and 2) the rather spacious guest rooms with wooden floor. The other factors are not at all favorable. These include well-worn and broken furniture; shower-in-bathtub without shower curtain thus the bathroom floor is flooded every time anyone takes a shower; ledges and windowsills that seem to never have been cleaned; burned out light bulbs; free WiFi that doesn't work; service staff who are more interested in their cellphones than in guests; live music from riverside promenade that serenades you until about 11 p.m. The list goes on.

Nice enought hotel, but oh my the NOISE!The rooms are nice enough, and the bathroom was recently renovated and clean. The pool is also clean and well-maintained. The place is also only a few blocks from downtown and the night market so the location is pretty good. The view over the Mekhong is quite spectacular, but only if you can stand the noise (see below). At night the riverfront comes alive with streetside BBQ restaurants that all have loud music and bands that run until ~11pm. After that it quietens down a bit, unless they have a function in the hotel itself which apparently is allowed to run until 3am or so. That is just ridiculous and rude. The staff are friendly enough, but speak practically no English so be prepared to either learn some Lao (really you should do this anyway) or use patience, a smile, and lots of charades to communicate anything other than simple requests. Breakfast is a somewhat greasy affair and will go cold if you get there late, but is plentiful. If you want to be in amongst it and don't mind noisy late nights then I definitely recommend this place. If you are an earlybird and like sleep, then probably not.

Booked by our tourPositive: Good view of river Walking distance to night market Negative: Very Noisy at night as those riverside restaurants downstairs play music till late and Wifi was very poor throughout each floor (this issue needs to be fix)

Booked by our tourWe were disappointed in this Hotel. It looked good until we reached our room. On arrival our guide was told there was no booking. After waiting some time we finally were shown to our room. In the booklet about the place there was a price list of all items and a statement saying if you damage anything you had to pay for it. That said, the sheets and towels were so old and thin that the pillow case had holes in it! They were stained and when I got in the shower there was something lumpy and brown that I didnt want to touch that needed washing away. This showed clearly the cleaning was not done to expected standards. The position right in front of the river placed our room above a busy night time entertainment restaurants and bars. The music and other street noise was loud until around midnight. The room was roomy, the bed comfortable, breakfast was good and we didnt have any other problems. There are better places to stay for similar prices nearby.

Great locationThe view from the balcony was of the Mekong and the riverside restaurants. Very spacious rooms and helpful staff. The breakfast was good offering eastern and western options. My favorites were the Lao porridge and an omelet. The pool was just for dipping in, not long enough to do laps if that's what your looking for. The restaurants are bustling with customers and musical performances at night so we ran our air conditioner to help drown out the noise.
