  great ski vacation

  Hotel Valentin in Solden is ideally located right on the ski lift, the staff is very friendly the attentive to your every wish, the hotel is clean the rooms are large and comfortable the bar is great and so is the spa area.

  A tale of two halves

  I am just back from a long weekend with 12 other friends that have travelled together for many years throughout Austria for the last 15 years. We usually stay in either Sölden or obergurgl but have stayed in hochgurgl as well. This is a great resort overall with great skiing and normally great hotels. This year we picked the Valentin due to its proximity to a main lift and also due to its modern look. On arrival late at night the check in was great and easy, food was laid on in our rooms and it was very welcome. After a few beers at the bar we went to bed to get up early the next morning for some good skiing. We were not to be disappointed. Breakfast in the restaurant was standard. Nothing that would rock the boat or make you say, great breakfast. That evening we stayed out and did not eat in the hotel. The following night and the rest of the holiday we did eat at night in the hotel. We were very disappointed in the quality of the food. One meal I got a piece of fish that was approx 4cm by 5 cm. I even took a picture of it to show others. We ordered some nice red wine each night and incredibly on our last night we were told that they had no more. No offer of any other wine was suggested. There was another strange rule that we learned as the weekend went on. For us irish the kitchen closed at 9.00pm which meant that we never got a desert or an after dinner coffee. The last night as we left at 9.45 pm, again with no desert, we saw other tables getting their desert. Whilst not said directly we certainly felt a level of prejudice from the staff in the restaurant or from the management of same. The following day as I checked us out, I was paying the full bill, I complained to the reception and stated that we were very unhappy with the management of the restaurant. I was told that no management was around but that my opinion would be passed on. Well, i always believe in rewarding great hotels and restaurants but equally will complain about bad ones. Almost all of the hotel deserves 4-5stars but the lack of any management presence or welcome and the very poor attitude of the restaurant has left a very bad taste. The picture below is of the tiny piece of fish and two rubber balls of risotto. I ate none of it.

  Heaven in Sölden

  + Personel very friendly Smooth check in Rooms spacious and clean Great breakfast buffet Location can't be closer to the cable Diner is fantastic, if you don't like a course there are plenty alternatives. Great parking service and late check out option. Amazing relaxing zone - Always very warm in the hotel, restuarant, rooms. During the diner we always felt a bit rushed, we had to ask for 5' between courses. Going back for sure! Don't worry about the apres ski bar. It is great ambiance even if you don't like apres ski and 18:30 on the dot the last song is played. hotel is not foreseen to entertain small children.

  Great location,nice staff and good service!!Rooms are modern, spacious and well equipped. Available ski and boot storage,rent ski .Excellent spa area,could have a jacuzzi or pool.Catering great and rich breakfast bufet. Afternoon snacks excellent!!! recommend as a good service and a great location.!

  Great hotel, thoroughly enjoyed our stay

  Modern hotel, adjacent to gondola and with fun apres ski bar and ski hire shop attached. Plus points, the food is really nice with x4 course evening meal and breakfast included. Waiter service is first class and lots of choice on the menu to cater for all. Bar area is cosy and all the hotel staff are very friendly and can't do enough for you, there is an afternoon buffet provided each day which was a welcome treat after a hard day's ski. The rooms are well appointed, modern, kept emaculately clean and of a good size. Location is perfect, the only downside perhaps is the busy road that fronts the hotel, but that didn't bother us. Would highly recommend this hotel for anyone wishing to visit sölden. Sölden is a really good ski area and we hope to visit again
