Highly RecommendedWhere to begin... I have been planning a proposal for the last year, however due to Covid 19 i needed to put it off on a number occasions. I contacted the hotel explaining what i wanted to do to make our engagement special during our stay and they sure did deliver. From our friendly welcome, our lovely room with a gorgeous view, to then arriving back at our room to a path of real rose petals, chocolates and a bottle of Champagne after i proposed at Hensol Castle lake. That evening we had a lovely meal at the restaurant with great food (highly recommend it) and the staff made our evening really special. If you are looking for a nice weekend away or for a proposal then this is the place to go!! A huge thank you to the Manager Gareth and the hotel staff in making our weekend one to remember.

Broken things in my roomOn the surface a nice room however the soap holder in the shower/bath is broken and dirty. Wonky clothes peg on back of bathroom door and no stand for my case. Shower also a bit broken. In the room last week a light fitting was coming unfazed above the mirror. This is certainly a much better room would have been nice to have a bath robe and a mug for tea not just a cup without a saucer.

Avoid!!!!!!My husband and I stayed here last weekend after booking a dinner, bed and breakfast deal. We were really looking forward to a child free, chilled weekend in a 'luxury setting. When we arrived at the resort I was really impressed as it looked very Christmassy and welcoming. That's pretty much where the positives end. Check in was OK but when we enquired about visiting the bar we were told it wouldn't be possible to book a table as they were pretty much fully booked. So we went down to our 'luxury' room which was a big let down. First of all it was a family room which had been set up for 5 people. The double bed was actually 2 single beds pushed together and the sofa bed was folded down (why I don't know as there were only 2 of us). The sofa bed also had children's stickers all across the frame and the carpet was quite badly stained. We then thought we would head to the bar as it was just after 3pm and we weren't eating until 6.15pm. We were one of the lucky ones as we managed to get the last table (but it was reserved for someone else at 5.30pm). We watched as couple after couple turned up and then got turned away. At first people were being sent to the golf club but then that was full (and apparently was closing at 5pm anyway!) The people that couldn't get to the bar were then attempting to use the leisure facilities but again they were getting turned away. So basically people had paid £145+ to sit in their rooms as every where else was full!! They had seriously sold far too many rooms for what they could offer. The hotel was very short staffed. My husband twice had to go to the bar and was sent away to sit down as "someone will be with you in a minute". 40 minutes later a stroppy waitress arrived to take our drinks order. Dinner was ok but our slot in the restaurant was over at 7.35pm so we then had to return to our room and sit there for the evening. We didn't get a good nights sleep due to the fact that we were falling down the middle of the two single beds that had been pushed together. The hotel was also freezing with doors open for ventilation. To add insult to injury when I emailed the hotel to complain I was offered a 'bargain' bed and breakfast deal for £65. As if I would spend another penny to stay there again!! Also, when the manager replied to my email he didn't even get my surname right. I would say that they received several complaints after the shambles of the weekend and it was a copy and paste job. Not good enough. My advice to anyone thinking of staying there - don't bother. There are other hotels that offer better value for money.

Amazing stayI booked the dinner b&b package for Sunday 6th December for myself and my partner, we were impressed with everything. We had a slight problem with a faulty window in our room but they changed our room for us straight away agter mentioning at reception and it was a lovely room with complimentary wine, which was great. The food was amazing as you can see in the photos. Staff were so friendly and helpful and the whole hotel was covid safe. Would recommend & will return in the future.

Autograph Spa Break - Good but not as advertisedBooked Autograph Spa Break and was made aware of covid restrictions beforehand. The disappointing aspect of our stay was that the included 2 course spa lunch advertised only turned out to be one course. I spoke to the spa reception about this and was told the plated lunch that we pre-ordered replaced the buffet, which I knew already. I explained that the deal included two courses not one and there was no reason why a plated fruit salad or granola yoghurt for example couldn't be provided along with the plated salad but to no avail. I wasn't informed of this via email or when I rang to ask about the changes, which is poor. The reception staff were unhelpful in this respect. The reception area was quite underwhelming and there was a lack of atmosphere. On the positive side though, the evening meals and breakfasts were delicious, the service received from the night manager and restaurant staff was really good, the spa treatments were great and the rooms (1x twin, 1 x double) were sizeable, well equipped with a separate shower and bath and had really comfortable beds. The night manager was very attentive when we needed a plaster during the night and his help was really appreciated. All in all, an enjoyable stay and would recommend just a real shame the spa lunch was not what we paid for.
