    Absolutely Perfect!

Me and my husband came here with another couple in July 2019. We were able to get two connecting rooms in the main building. The rooms had everything we needed and were restocked daily. It was very clean and we loved the terrace! We were able to partake in the weekly dinner in the cellar with Martin and other guests and we are so glad we were able to be apart of it. The food and wine were perfect and it was very cool to get to know Martin and the other guests. THE POOL! This was our favorite part. The best view we saw our entire 10 day trip in Italy. We hiked the vineyards, went into town for ingredients to make lunch in our rooms or for an Aperol Spritz and dinner. We came without a car and did not feel hindered by it at all. We took the train into Grosetto and then a taxi to Valdonica. Everywhere else we went during our stay, we walked. Not having a car really allowed us to enjoy some down time on the property and get to know the town of Sassofortino. We cannot wait to come back one day!

    Beautiful but lots of mosquitoes

We stayed in the Cantina rooms in September. There are rooms in main building where breakfast is served and where reception is situated but the cantina is a hundred metres away down steep hill and the villas a little further away. The rooms in the Cantina are small but open onto a private garden which is lovely. There are loungers here and a table. The doors from your room to the garden don't close from the outside meaning the mosquitoes get into room unless you devise a way to keep the door closed! There were lots of mosquitoes and I saw other guests complaining of bites. I could not fully relax unless covered with repellent including during sleep. The cantina has a shared kitchen space which could do with refurb but has all equipment needed to prepare meals including oil, salt, herbs, etc. Breakfast at the main building was a simple selection of fruit, bread, yoghurt, cereal and meat/cheese. The hot option was scrambled egg and bacon every day during our 5 night stay. I had seen other reviews requesting more variety but this doesnt seem to have been acknowledged. The pool is 50 metres from the cantina. Not as far as suggested in other reviews. The view is spectacular. There are loungers in the sun and shade under trees. The pool is salt water and cool which is perfect to cool down after the scorching sunshine...just requires a quick dip under to get over initial shock of temperature but then very pleasant for swim. Loungers and outdoor seating at main building do not have any shade which was another point raised in a review which I had read which again doesnt seem to have been acknowledged. I never saw anyone lounging here in the sun. It was too hot. We stayed for the dinner and tasting evening at a cost of 45 Euro each. My partner is vegan and they assured us in advance they could accomodate him. The food was not great quality. Bruschetta for starter followed by a creamy baked pasta (which no one could identify what was in it), undercooked chicken with potato and then tiramisu. My parter as an alternative was given pasta with tomato sauce, baked aubergine and three pieces of fruit for dessert. The wine was excellent but overall this experience was wildly overpriced given the standard of the food. Id stick to just wine next time and eat in the village where there are some really nice places to eat. There is wifi at the main building and cantina but the connection is intermittant. Staff were very friendly especially Tamara. There is also a nice trail round the vineyard which is a little hilly in places. A nice wander.

    Magic

Adorable hosts. The hotel is perfect. A combination of old and modern with a lot of comfort and a magical view. The wine is so great and the rooms are so perfect. No words to describe this magical moment. Good food, good lounge, and pretty good wine. I recommend for everybody. Rent a car and visit the region of montalcino.

    Just perfect

We stayed for two days in one of the villas and had the best experience we could ask for! We were able to ask for the villa for two nights rather than the usual three and this very accommodating place was more than happy for us to do so! When we arrived, we were met by Tamara at the new building overlooking the vineyards and out to the coast (a stunning view) and were offered a welcome glass of wine. We were told briefly about the history of the place and then led to the villa. The villa itself was fantastic, there were bathrooms in all three rooms, a shower and bathroom in the master room, and a number of terraces from which we could admire the Tuscan countryside. Also very near the pool! We enjoyed a picnic set up by the staff and were pointed in the direction of some of the best spots around the woods and vineyards. All absolutely lovely. We also did a wine tasting where we were offered 6 full glasses of all the wines produced by the area bar the rose. They were delicious! We also had a tour of the vineyards and winery itself, learnt far more about the history, the organic production, the scale of production, and met the wine maker. Couldnt recommend this place enough!
