A wonderful immersion into Japanese culture and cuisine! Very family friendly and helpful.
We received a very nice email before our stay as we mentioned our Daughter was in a wheelchair. They already prepared a barrierless room for us however upon arriving when seeing the size of the wheelchair they offered to upgrade us to a larger room and positioned the beds to accommodate our daughters needs. In the dining again they always accommodated us with a beautiful table with enough room to move around and have a family dinner. Service was friendly and very accommodating (from providing help for finding taxi to making us breakfast package to take away as we had a Super early flight). Cuisine was Soo delicious, generous portions and excellent quality with premium ingredients. The room overlooked the ocean and had a large bathtub to soak in. The location is great as it is in the middle of Okinawa so good for exploring north and south regions. They also were able to arrange a private taxi hire which could fit a wheelchair. Again this was another highlight of the trip as we had the nicest driver ever. It felt like having a private tour from a Friend and was very doting with our Daughter. All in all it was a gorgeous little trip with direct flight from Singapore so easy to get to. Highly recommended it if you are looking for a immersive experience into Japanese hospitality!

A Four Star Sleep, a Seven Star Culinary Experience
Imagine waking up each morning to glimpse out over the turquoise water of Okinawa. And then a three course breakfast, Okinawa-style, including fish, rice, miso soup, plates and plates of small appetisers and things to nibble on. Our first experience in Okinawa was made incredible by a stay at this hotel. The English-speaking staff are not only polite, they seem to go the extra mile in Japanese hospitality. They came out to greet us at our car each evening, as we arrived back to the hotel after a long day swimming, touring and eating. The morning we had to leave before breakfast to watch whales, they had our shoes already out and ready for us so that we could leave without any waste of time. The views are incredible. Only downside is some traffic noise during the evening and late morning, as people head to work or head up the coast to enjoy the sites. The hotel is very near a road, but the lush greenery and steep hillside make up for it.

Gorgeous ryokan
Umi no Ryotei is a beautiful ryokan with stunning views, impeccable service and sumptuous meals. The staff are fantastic and go the extra mile to assist u from check in to check out. The sea views from the room, restaurant and onsen are all spectacular! Great retreat and wish we could have stayed longer!

Good experience
I was a bit concerned I would be turned away when I showed up completely soaked through after being caught in a downpour. The staff were fantastic. I was brought towels and the spa was opened up early for me so that I could warm up and dry off. The room was clean, lovely, large and we really enjoyed ordering a few beverages from the menu, sitting in our lounge and looking at the water. It's not a traditional Ryokan but it is very nice and relaxing. We used public transport to get to/from the hotel. We went for a walk or two and ate in the nearby villages for lunch and dinner. Breakfast was a bit of a struggle for us and the western option could be improved.

Stunning!!
I was looking for a ryokan experience in Okinawa, and this seems to be the only one. Actually it is less a traditional ryokan and more a hotel decorated like a ryokan. Not a bad thing, as it means everything is new and modern. The rooms are beautiful, spacious and clean. But...we were given a room on the first floor, which was a huge disappointment because the view was completely blocked by trees! I was so sad. Obviously I booked this place for the ocean views that it boasts. After asking several times (it was a flat "No" at first, reason being they were full), our persistence paid off and we were moved to the 3rd (top) floor! And from the 3rd floor, the view was simply breathtaking! Wake up early for the spectacular sunrise, it's completely worth it. Soak in the deep bathtub and open the windows - what a calming experience. Pro-tip - call at least 1 day ahead to book the kaiseki dinner. I forgot, so we had the standard set dinner offered in the dining room (also wonderful views), which was delicious! Breakfast was a sit-down affair as well, with so many delicious little dishes presented beautifully on a tray. The whole place is very quiet, which was great. I hardly saw anyone except during mealtimes. There's a public bath and a freezer with free popsicles. Apart from that, you'll probably be spending most of the time inside the room, enjoying the views. Pyjamas and socks provided was super comfortable. The only downside is that the bed and pillows were not comfortable and as a result I didn't sleep well. Pillow was too flat.
