    Nice Staff

Ubon Hotel is in the centre of the city, opposite the park and the small museum. It is also opposite a great nightly food market and the big weekend market. The hotel itself is very dated and probably hasn't changed its furnishings and décor since it was built ! Breakfast is basic Thai - khao tom moo- toast and coffee. wifi is available but I could not get it in my room only in the lounge. I had my laundry done daily which was a bonus. It was cheap and returned by the afternoon. The staff were friendly but very little English is spoken. This hotel would be fine if you were staying one or two nights.

No hot water, questionable air-con, Vietnam War-era furnishings

I expect more for 500 baht a night. This being the cheaper of the two options, I can't believe the more expensive rooms are any more able to provide hot water or better air con. It's safe to say I did not sleep well. The location is good and central, but is about the best thing I can note. Nothing inside the hotel distinguished itself as being worthy of a second night stay.

Good linens and comfortable bed, FAST Wifi

Well those are the good things. A bit tattered as others accurately pointed out. 500 Baht for a standart room, including what they call B'fast. Only rice soup, white toast and instant coffee. Room has TV (couldn't find any English language channes), refrigerator, and good AC. Wifi speed teat registered 15mps. Faster than my home Wifi. Overall not a bad deal, though there is not that much reason for Ubon to be expensive. Location is good, right across from the night market for cheap eats.

    Not impress

The only one adventage of Ubon Hotel is location. The hotel is very close to nightmarket. I stayed in a standard room which included breakfast. The room is very old and water heater in restroom isn't working in the evening and night. Breakfast is very poor, there are only thai soup, coffee and bread. And the price, it will be cheaper if you book through the hotel not book through agency website like agoda booking etc. For me the price is very expensive when compare with what you get!

no hot water, but the view makes this place excellent!

This is my home in fact, I know it very well. The maids are my friends, the staff is friendly and courteous but not obnoxiously needing to talk to you and the like. The restaurant upstairs with karaoke (some English) is fabulous. The food is great if a bit more than just downstairs at all the many, well-lit foodshops near the Thung Si Muang Park. Lots of exercisers, dancercising in the park, along with concerts and lots to do right downtown make it my favorite place ever. You can see the whole city. The birds start chirping madly at around 6 and the city at night with the salas etc. is breath-taking. One can hear the national anthem from the park at 8 AM and 6 PM. I have taken to going down there just to stand with the Thai people during the anthem ( it is illegal to sit!). Super fun! I wouldn't recommend any place else, if you like "old cities".
