Engaging staff, fantastic building, marvellous views plus entertaining geese!Whilst I didn't actually choose the Two Bridges (a booking agency did that) I was delighted with the hotel as soon as I pulled into the car park. The Two Bridges is perfectly poised in the magnificent Devon countryside, the resident geese act as unpaid door staff warily eyeing visitors and honking quietly as if gauging the suitability of guests into what they clearly regard as their hotel. I was fairly worn out when I arrived, after a long day driving down from home, a meeting some way away, and the final drive to the hotel in the dark, in the rain and dodging oncoming traffic on steep hills with narrow roads. The receptionist was very welcoming and sorted out my room, a dinner reservation and all I needed to know about my stay, the covid arrangments were clear, sensible and didn't detract from the quality of my stay. My room was modern, clean and well laid out, the bed was comfortable and the shower effective and easy to operate, this may sound a petty issue but on a previous trip to the West Country (Dorset) I was burnt in a shower and the memory haunts me still despite the incident being some time ago. I ate off the guest menu, a lovely mixture of artisan bread and tapenade as a starter, and the most succulent and tender blade of beef I think I have ever eaten as a main. Being a simple working-class sort of chap I accompanied this with two pints of "Jail Ale" which came recommended by the very pleasant bar staff, and which didn't disappoint. In all if work takes me to Devon again I wouldn't hesitate to book into the Two Bridges, I enjoyed my brief stay immensely, and I think the geese approved of me.

Fabulous Weekend BreakStayed for the weekend as a suprise for my husbands 60th birthday, after covid cancelled his suprise party. Fantastic location, fabulous food (we ate in the lounge because of our dog, but chose from the restaurant menu). Covid restrictions were in place however this did not impact on our stay at all. All the staff we encountered were very pleasant and we would definately look to return in the future.

RecommendedStopped for a light lunch as our cousins from Aotearoa stayed here a couple of years ago when visiting the UK. The tomato soup, home made apparently, arrived at the same time as the coffee. If you prefer formal and pretentious this is for you. Avoid if you prefer rustic. Pleasant team.

Superb LunchThe hotel was very Covid savvy and we felt safe. We popped in for morning coffee and later return for a three course lunch on our return journey. Very welcoming and helpful. The lunch menu in the restaurant was varied and interesting with good local ingredients prepared and presented well at a reasonable price.

IsolatedHistoric country hotel in the middle of Dartmoor at two bridges between the prison at Prince town and Postbridge. On a wet and windy night the hotel could be described as snug. Bed room was a bit small but had a modern shower. Excellent evening meal with a harpist playing to entertain the full house. Stayed at the end of February before Covid was let loose. Delicious full English breakfast. Loads of easily accessible car parking. In summary a good place to stay.
