Pleasant B&B with Adequate Room, Good Breakfast, Beautiful Common Sitting Room and Great ServiceSpent two nights in a double room. Small room in hotel described as a pub but more a room with chairs and a few tables (surprisingly the pub itself has little character in contrast with other areas of this little B&B). Couple of real ales on tap. The common areas of this hotel however, are beautifully decorated in period furniture and paintings. Very nice breakfast area. Good breakfast. Bedroom adequate. The service here is excellent and the staff are genuinely warm and friendly. There is very little to do in Gifford with one other B&B that has a larger pub area and nightly dinner specials. A cafe in town. A small grocery store. The surrounding area is beautiful and good for cycling (bicycle) but be prepared for steep hills. Recommended: nearby town of Haddington; and Glenkinchie Distillery (presently under a redo in parts but a fantastic tour with whiskey sampling at end) and Belhaven Brewery in Dunbar. Apparently many people come here for local golfing. I cycled The Borders visiting local villages (photo is if local barley field after harvest).

Great hospitalityI stayed here with a group of friends on our recent trip to Scotland. Gifford is a beautiful village well worth exploring and the hotel has bags of charm. The hotel bar is cosy and we received a warm welcome from the regulars. There is also a games room with a pool table and darts. The staff and management of the hotel were friendly and went out of their way to help. Dinner on Saturday evening was superb and the full Scottish breakfast on Sunday morning was a real treat. The rooms are large and comfortable and have everything you could need including tea, coffee and biscuits. I will definitely return.

Happy New yearWhat a lovely time we had on news years eve. The staff very lovely the food and drink good and great price. Breakfast was amazing. We had a great night in the bar with the locals who made us very welcome. Just wish the room was a bit more spacious, but it was very clean and comfortable. All in all brilliant experience. Thank you

Business tripVery friendly staff , good breakfast and a good price quality diner. Rooms where clean and had a good night rest in this hotel. Also enough parking space in front of the hotel so you dont have to trouble searching for space.

Post lockdown getawayA bit out of the way and very quiet - perfect for avoiding the crowds. The food at dinner and breakfast was delicious. Its a very old hotel and the furniture matches that, however the room was in good decorative order and clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. Not a lot of need for social distancing when youre the only guests but the measures are in place with plenty of hand gel etc. Theres a co-op and another hotel in the village and thats about it. Theres a nice woodland walk accessed by a gate in the wall of the Yester Estate (ask someone- not easy to find).
