  Wonderfull stay at the Namibian border

  We had a most wonderfull stay at Tutwa Desert Lodge. The staff is so friendly, the rooms are beautifull and very spacious , the food and wine were delicious.. But what makes Tutwa so special is in the first place the feeling of coming home! The hosts John end Oscar always welcomes you with a big smile after each trip with the guide Norman , who drove us through the whole parc with great enthousiasme. We definitely recommend Tutwa to anyone who likes luxury and tranquility!

  Room excellent clean and spacious with nice views Venessa was a excellent host friendly and help full. Food was good and presented very nice service good. Beautiful setting and location. Nice sightings and activities. Excellent wines and wine seller.

  Beautiful place but lack of basics

  We visited Tutwa when augrabies was in flood. On the day of arrival, the welcome was on standard. We recieved our rooms and started having a look around. Pool was almost green, but staff told us it was because of a thunderstorm earlier the week, but seems more that the pools was cleaned months ago. Also the grass was cut earlier the day as everything was laying around. Dinner was good, but unfortunately the waitress did not know how to open a bottle of wine....Almost no water on the first night for a shower, bathroom had a ugly smell, so that you had to close the door between bedroom and bathroom. Next moring breakfast started at 07h00, but noboby ready in the kitchen. Luckily we had some breakfast as 8h00, but no serviettes on the table. During this long wait the cleaning staff started service the rooms, I had to go fetch in the room and found the staff without any facemask in our room...After arriving the second day from augrabies, most of the problems were solved with an attitude from staff manager. We also tried a game drive, beautiful but very little game, Norman is a excellent gameranger with a lot of knowledge of this area and the most friendly person. Beautiful place, but management needed asap

  Overall Lodge Review

  The management and service at this lodge is frankly very poor for the price and type of experience you would expect. Never before have I stayed at a luxury lodge where the management refused to make a fire in the evening for the guests. They used a number of excuses and would say anything to avoid having to put in a little effort to light the fire. First they said its only for 6 or more guests! (can you believe it?!). When asked why they said there is not enough staff to be able to bbq in the boma. I replied I dont mind to eat in the restaurant I just want to relax by the fire later in the evening. Then they said its too windy to make a fire and there are too many bugs! I stayed two nights and both where completely wind free! Even if there was a little breeze, it definitely isn't a reason why you cant make a fire in the boma, which is 50m away from the lodge in the middle of the desert! Two of the other guests said it was quite depressing in the evening at the lodge, with three different couples sitting inside the restaurant on such a beautiful evening having to eat inside and not even a little music playing, making it very awkward to even talk to each other as everyone is sitting in silence. Outside our room on our balcony where swimming pool stools and chairs stacked that are not being used which is very untidy! On the wall next to our room is fitted with all the air conditioners of the entire lodge and becomes quite noisy in the room. When checking out I only received an invoice with the total amount payable for drinks and when I asked to see the breakdown the manager become very rude and defensive and said why dont I trust her? seriously? Does she not know thats how it normally works when checking out to review your bill? It is very clear that the management have no real experience in running luxury lodges, or any lodges for that matter. It is such a shame because its n beautiful lodge in a beautiful location that is going to waste. I certainly would never go back. I really hope the lodge owner would read this message, I know its not how he intended the lodge to be run.
