Beautifully-Restored House. Felt a privilege to stay here. The Turret House is a fine example of early-Australian architecture at its best. It is lovingly cared for by the owners and makes a perfect place to stay. Jenny, the host, with her roots in early Tasmanian settlement has a wealth of knowledge about Tasmania in general, and the Launceston area in particular. She was very helpful with suggestions for good local restaurants and sights. The room we stayed in was very spacious, extremely well-equipped, and comfortable. We would return to The Turret House in the blink of an eye.. and probably will.

Beautiful house in a top locationWe stayed for 2 nights in this lovely old house. The room was spacious and very well appointed with those little extras such a port and a fresh breakfast hamper and coffee machine. Jenny our host is very welcoming and we enjoyed hearing the history of the house. Located on the outskirts of Launceston, it is within easy reach of everything you need, including Cataract Gorge and several good pubs. Would definitely stay there again

Can excellent be exceeded? It's understandable why The Turret House which has by far only 5 star rating from travellers ranks still just a tad above the middle of all the B&B's in Launceston : the host has only started renting out her 2 rooms a year ago so there are only 28 reviews so far to boost up its ranking. But don't be fooled! I can assure you that this place will surely rise up on its ranking very quickly. Everything in here has exceeded our expectations. Our ground floor room that has a separate entrance from the garden is absolutely beautiful if not luxurious. I really appreciated the heated bathroom floor as it was still quite chilly in early April. I wouldn't say the room is very spacious but it is just because the host has put in a small dining table, a nice armchair, a big bed and above all a good-sized fridge and other equipment filled with goodies for us to have such a big breakfast that we actually had to skip lunch! Being a 6th generation Tasmanian herself, Jenny gave us a very good introduction of the history of her house and the town and has given us plenty of insights as to where to visit and where to dine. The view from the top of her house was stunning. We also had a chance to see the other bigger guest room in her house which was absolutely gorgeous (I will stay in this one next time I come around!) I was glad we could just parked our car here and walked everywhere, visiting the Cataract Gorge and going into town. We had dinner in Me Wah that served lovely seafood including steamed oysters and scallops and sauteed lobster tail in modern Hong Kong style. Remember to take a flash light if you intend to walk back to the house at night.

Love this accommodation....you have to try itMy wife and I last stayed with Jenny at The Turret House back in October 2017. I wrote a review after that visit and really pleased to take the time to do so again. Unfortunately, this time was only a one night visit. We were accommodated at our request downstairs in the little hideaway called the Esk Room which also has its own entrance through the garden to the off street carpark. This room is so homely, has plenty of space and great heating including floor heating in the bathroom. The queen bed is really comfortable and there is a table and chairs provided for breakfast. The thing that sets this accommodation off is the attention to detail that Jenny has gone too. Breakfast is continental and amazing...gluten free options were provided by Jenny for my wife. Other reviews have gone into detail about what is provided so i wont go into that other than to say it is fantastic. Tassie wines are available to purchase at very reasonable rates....and everyone of them was from a leading Vineyard and premium wine. Tassie beer is also available. The toiletries were made by Aesop and were well above what you would expect. Fruit bowl on arrival, Pod Coffee and variety of teas and even a Belkin USB charger board provided for all us smart phone users. Blankets are again from Tasmania and top quality. Their is a room upstairs if you want to sit and read. And even something like Netflix is available on the TV in your room Not much else i can say about this property other than give it a try. So close to town you wont be disappointed. Thank you Jenny from Rob and Wendy

ImmaculateThe Turret House is my kind of place to stay. We had the Trevallyn Suite, which exceeded all expectations. The immaculate decor and fittings match wonderfully with the 1902-style of the house. The king size bed was the most comfortable bed I've slept in that isn't my own. Jenny is a delight as the host. She's friendly and highly knowledgableand even a fellow Doctor Who fan! (The room kind of reminded me of the inside of the TARDIS.) Jenny went beyond the call of duty to make us feel welcome. She even provided a free decanter of port, which my roommate Jack took as a challenge. There's plenty of reading material available for those who want to escape through books; and plenty of fresh fruit and breakfast goodies for those who live through their stomachs. The old-style bath is irresistible and the chain-operated loo adds to the charm. Make sure you check out the servants' quarters. I cannot fault my time here and I can't wait to return.
