Holiday from HellThis hotel was unkept and run down food was boring and they run out of basic foods like lemons red wine for a day milk one night. The pool decking was rotten the umbrellas past there sell by.The towel,s were grey and all had rust marks on,one day mine had lipstick on just dirty. The cups were washed under a cold water tap we saw that for our selves and they also were all stained. The drinks lounge was very dirty the tables were really wiped, there was a cobweb on one lampshade and spider the whole two weeks we were there. The air con in our room constantly dripped on the floor they put a towel on the floor to catch it that was there for two weeks.I could go on and on but it would take to long this was a holiday from hell that my husband and i would like to forget.

Bit forlorn and at the back end of beyondThis was obviously a nice hotel when it was built, but could do with a bit of sprucing up. It's not terrible, it's OK, but by Malaysia standards is not a good deal. I managed to stay in a 5* in Penang for £20 less than here. It's also a long way from Kota Kinabalu and anywhere else you might want to go. The fact that the last couple of km are down a bumpy country lane doesn't help. I caters mainly for groups from Saga, the UK holiday company for the elderly, and so is almost deserted when they aren't around. If you want to get away from it all for a couple of days, fine, but no longer - there really is nothing to do and nowhere to go here.

Very Isolated and PrivacyI went there for business trip for two night, cannot find in in my GPS since the name was change from Sabandar Bay Resort. Since I stayed on weekday, there is only 2 or 3 rooms occupied on that day. So its very privacy, since nobody there. Breakfast are serve but not in buffet, so you have to order from their menu. Room was OK and their swimming pool still OK. The only problem it was to far from town 42km from airport and 12km to Tuaran. The road to the resort was very bad. 3km narrow road with pot holes. So the only thing was OK in the resort is privacy.. you can go swim alone at the beach or in the pool.

One of the loveliest places we have visitedWe feel so sorry for the staff at this hotel who are absolutely marvellous, but would have to be able to walk on water to please some holidaymakers. We have been twice to this resort and simply loved it on each occasion. It's idyllic setting on the South China Sea combined with a five kilometer UNCROWDED sandy beach made this an ideal choice for a relaxing holiday. For people who want a lot of organised activities all day long - this is not for you. Having said that however, we went on all the included excursions, visited Sepilock and the Rasa Ria hotel, and made several trips to the capital Kota Kinabalu by the hotel's courtesy bus. Kota Kinabalu has several upmarket department stores where you can replenish your wardrobe at very reasonable prices! We went on Saga's all inclusive package which we felt represented very good value for money. We must again mention the wonderful friendly staff for whom nothing was too much trouble and always greeted you with a radiant smile (whether at 7.00a.m. in the morning or 11.00.p.m. at night) The Saga reps, ably led by Melanie, were always very helpful, but did not constantly hassle you to book excursions. On our second visit we were delighted to be presented with a lovely silk table runner - because we had gone there twice. We found the accommodation comfortable and our room had a balcony looking out to sea. The flight of course is long, but we found Brunei Airlines perfectly O K and the staff were quite attentive and always bringing cold drinks around. The fact that it was a "dry" airline did not bother us. In conclusion we would say that the hotel would benefit from a little TLC in the public rooms, especially the lounge, and some visible management would have been welcome when minor problems arose. We would however come back - but we rather think that Saga have dropped it off their brochure- no doubt trying to please guests who expect 5 star treatment all the time when, in fact, they have not paid for anything of the kind.

Tauran BeachThis resort has been closed for about 5 years. I stayed there it was not flash but it did have some good features. I was looking to try it again but could not get any information on rates so I ended up emailing one of the tourist service agencies via Facebook.
