    Perfect Base for Exploring Kinosaki

My wife and I recently spent two nights here and loved it! The ryokan is situated on one of the main streets in town and within a five minute walk of three of the seven public bath houses in town including our favorite...Goshono-yu. We do not speak Japanese and most of the staff does not speak English but one of the owners does speak excellent English and she was always available to answer our questions either in person or over the phone if she was not around. Our room was spacious including a small sitting area overlooking the street. There was a toilet en suite and the shared bath+onsen was more than adequate. The room also included a TV but no English channels. Even though it was December the heat worked great in the room. The best part of the our stay was the elaborate meals we were provided in our rooms. Dinner the first night was a traditional Japanese spread that consisted of multiple courses/plates and the second night was a crab feast cooked at our table since crab was in season at the time. Breakfast both mornings was not quite as extravagant but equally as delicious and filling. There is a free shuttle that leaves from the train station that will take you to your ryokan regardless of where you are staying and upon departure the staff at Tsutaya gave us a ride to the train station free of charge. Overall a great experience and would recommend this place 100%.

    Good ryokan in Kinosaki.

We stayed here for 2 nights and really enjoyed it. Sitting on the main street, although a little noisy from the traffic, its location is very convenient to walk to various public onsen baths and to explore this little town. Once checked in guests will get a free pass to all 7 public onsen baths. The rooms we stayed in were in good condition, spacious, comfortable, and clean. However, their indoor onsen wasn't good and it needed improvement on cleanliness and condition. The female owner spoke very good English and very helpful. Guests can wear yukata to public baths. The ryokan provided rain boots and umbrellas for guests on the snowy days. If you drive, they have free parking and valet service. Japanese breakfasts were pretty basic and were served in our room and that was fine since the staffs were very efficient. They were able to clear the space and set up the breakfast table quickly and breakfasts were served on schedule. In all, this is a good ryokan I'd recommend to those people who would like to experience a traditional Japanese hospitality.

Great Ryokan for Relaxing and Unwinding

Kinosaki is one of the best places to relax and enjoy life. I believe that Tsutaya is a perfect ryokan for this goal. It is also situated in the main street of Kinosaki so accessibility is not a problem. For the room, it is a traditional Japanese style room so expect futons. However, nothing in the room is uncomfortable so I do not expect foreigners to have a problem. My room also had a view of the main street so you can see the calming atmosphere of Kinosaki. As for the food, it is exceptional to say the least. Do expect an extravagant meal when staying at this hotel. The service is also there at all moments so you will never face any inconvenience. Overall, a quaint ryokan perfectly suited to relax and see Kinosaki.

    A homely ryokan!

My biggest impression of this place is just how much food they give you. I was so stuffed halfway through the meal, yet there was still more crab to be eaten! Each person was given a full crab and it was prepared in different ways. First you eat slightly cooked legs, then crab nabe, then like sukiyaki, then a porridge with crab in it and the crab miso. It's a ton of crab and by the end, you probably won't want crab for a long time. Everything was so delicious, especially the amaebi I got in the beginning and the dessert of fresh fruit was lovely after all the crab. The lady who helped us change into our yukata and served us food was so caring and the whole ryokan almost feels like you're staying in someone's house with it not being that big. You get a bath pass to go to the Kinosaki onsens and it's located right in the middle of the town making it very convenient to go to any of them. I did not go in the onsen in the ryokan itself because I was too busy going to the other ones around town. Breakfast was also lovely and I just had a very good time.

    Histroical Ryokan

Tsutaya Ryokan is very old, but good maintenance and cleanness. We had been lucky to the big room for my wife and me. You can see Japanese Futon on Tatami instead of Beds. You should get early evening for Onsen before your Dinner. Pls change our costume to Japanese Yukata with Geta (Japanese sandals). We got our Dinner in our room around 19:00. Japanese normally took Onsen before Dinner. Mandara Onsen is the nearest one behind Tsutaya about 3 minutes on foot. We get Free Pass with 2D Bar Code to seven public Onsen around Town. It is very value for money. The public Onsen takes about 800-1200 yen for one.
