  Pre-checking of room inadequate.

  Whilst this is in a great location, I suspect there is a lack of experience of running a motel. There is considerable work needed on the rooms, especially in the bathroom. The TV remote was missing but reception found one for us. Unfortunately, the office was closed before we discovered the AC remote was missing and there was no way of turning it on. The ceiling fan had two speeds, almost stopped and full blast. We tried sleeping with it full blast but it was cold and it was giving me a headache so we turned it off and tried to sleep in an airless room. We were on a trip next day which left before the included breakfast was available and before the office opened, so we had a second night in an airless room. When reporting this on departure, it was suggested we could just have left the sliding door open for air. Really!? If there was Wifi, we weren't given a password but there was no-one around to ask. I pointed out to them that anyone going on a dive trip or a day tour needed to leave before the breakfast time of 7.30 and that they could have an arrangement that cereal etc could be picked up the night before. The breakfast was basic - sugary cereals, margarine, and the cheapest possible coffee sachets - but better than going on a trip hungry.

  Cheap hotel for 1 night

  Accommodation is fine enough for one night, I can't imagine staying there longer. Room was not well cleaned and a bit small for 4 people with almost no space for our backpacks. Breakfast was, surprisingly, very good. Wifi connection was okay.

  DO NOT STAY HERE

  Room itself was quite nasty, water damage on the ceiling, rusted out soap dispenser. Very basic decor. Sure we got it cheap but that doesnt mean it needs to be this run down. To make it worse the people in the apartment nearby were playing loud music and then later we heard loud shouting and fighting coming from the landing outside our bedroom. Please heed our warning and take your money elsewhere!

  They run a brothel from this hotel

  What more do you need to know about the place. Men were coming in and out of the upstairs rooms non stop. Several Asian prostitutes work out of there. The whole property had a seedy and creepy feel to it for obvious reasons.

  DONT RECOMMEND

  I went here for a school trip and it was disgusting. Floor was terrible, shower sucked and fan didnt even go high enough. I would definitely not recommend to anyone who wants to stay in cairns. Absolutely disgusted on how dirty the rooms were
