    Small, old park

The owner was helpful but seemed unhappy. The powered site suited our narrow bus but would be squashy if large vans on every site. The old amenities block was clean but could do with an update as tiles broken in men's shower etc. $1 fee for five minute shower, water pressure was good. The laundry was tiny, would fit two persons at the most, $5 per wash and dryer use. The camp kitchen was undercover but could also do with a revamp. Convenient location to Maria island ferry. In comparison to other parks where we paid $40 per night we were somewhat disappointed.

Overpriced studio in a place with little on offer

S42°30.501' E147°54.643' Triabunna is not much else of interest to tourists, other than the fact that this is the starting point for magical Maria Island NP. Accommodation options are limited. The Island Eden B&B with good reviews is located 1.4 km away from the harbour, above the bar & restaurant of the Spring Bay Hotel are rooms with shared facilities and the Tandara Motor Inn on the highway should not be considered. The Triabunna Cabin & Caravan site offers cabins and two studios. After reading many reviews and complaints about the cabins, the studios looked a better option. Actually, if you look at the large number of caravans and motorhomes in front or behind the Spring Bay Hotel (with coin operated showers), this might be the best option in Triabunna if you bring your caravan or motorhome. The studio is part of the old Spring Bay police station of, renamed Triabunna in 1836. What would have been a prison cell is still in the back. The building has two studios and a place where the owners live. A new bathroom, with good shower, has been fitted in the front of living room, making the living room smaller. In addition, a spiral staircase has been placed to reach the bedroom in the attic, making is smaller again. This spiral staircase is not suitable for people with disabilities or obesity and large suitcases (which need four wheels to be moved). Finally, a large flat screen television makes the living room tiny. There is no kitchen inside. A small cooking place and sink is outside and you can sit in the front garden. With fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle and kitchen utensils inside, you can prepare a small breakfast yourself. No breakfast is included. Compared to the living room, the bedroom in the attic is large, with a double bed and a single bed. The bedroom has air conditioning and a television. The double bed slept excellent. According to several reviews on Tripadvisor, Alistair & Gina have not received any recognition nor commendation for their hospitality. In our case, the check-in went smoothly. Gina showed how to unlock the doors. During our stay, the studio was not services. In February of 2020, we paid $152.25 per night. We contacted Alistair & Gina by e-mail and made a direct booking without using internet travel agencies with their high fees. It is clear that the studio in this old Spring Bay police station is overpriced for what is on offer, but in general, there is not much on offer in Triabunna. Somehow, one felt captive in this old police station.

    Awesome hot showers

We pulled in here in a motor home tonight as we needed a recharge. Its a quite little spot, friendly staff and awesome hot showers. You pay $1 for 5 mins but they are super clean, have great water pressure & hot. Totally worth $1!! It may not have the best views however its peaceful & clean. Also happy to have our fur baby.

Best of very limited options in Triabunna

Camped here for 1 night, prior to our planned visit to Maria Island National Park. The town of Triabunna has very little to offer tourists apart from being the stepping stone to Maria Island. Due to this, there are few accomodation options. I noted the Tasman motel located on the highway near Triabunna is closed (Possibly due to COVID?). This caravan park was absolutely packed with very little space available. Cost of camping was 30 dollars a night, which I thought was a little expensive but is comparable to similar accomodation along the east coast of Tasmania. The staff were friendly. Showers were not included in the cost of entry. You are given a code to access them and the hot water showers run via a 1 dollar per 5 minute system. Overall it was a fairly average stay but certainly not terrible given it was just overnight.

Well priced for a brief stat

We have stayed here before in a cabin which was very good. This time we stayed in a studio in the old cottage. Good bathroom and limited cooking facilities ( no stove or hot plate). Typically as a cottage it had limited natural light but as we were out all day that was not an issue. You do need to eat out for the evening meal although a small table and chairs in the porch enabled us to do so without going to a restaurant.
