  Grumpy reception and cramped rooms

  We, unfortunately, booked a 3 night stay here which was payable in advance and totally unre-fundable. Booked through booking.com and the photos shown are nothing like the room available. They must have used photography tricks to make the rooms seem larger. The man who was at reception on Friday afternoon was grumpy and uninviting when we turned up. I think we interrupted his renovating. Whilst they are in the process of renovating, they also need to replace their furnishings, the most comfortable place to sit was on the floor. The beds were hard and the pillows flat. Both the rooms in our 2 bedroom apartment style accommodation just managed to fit the beds with minimal space between either the twin beds or the double bed and wall. The shower was easily visible through the closed sliding door and you could not open the drawers in the kitchen with the bathroom door closed. Now I understand the old saying 'Not enough room to swing a cat'.

  Hidden charm

  A really unappealing setup, but the unit (queen and single kitchenette) was very clean and nicely appointed. Free wi fi, friendly manager who rustled round to supply a cafetiere and a very handy position for the event at the nearby racecourse. Full sky tv, including sports, and air con / heat pump made this a cut above the rest. Only niggle was cigarette smoke from outside the kitchen window - perhaps another guest smoking under the covered walkway?

  Quiet, cozy & comfortable

  Set off the street this is an older but completely refurbished motel that was spacious, well appointed with comfy beds & furniture & absolutely spotless. The price was right too! We had the last available room, 2 br with full kitchen/dining room for less than weve paid for noisier studio rooms elsewhere this trip.

  Goodsized room

  Nicely laid out room with a kitchenette and breakfast counter and stools as well as a settee. I was in good order and Wifi worked well and there was no noise from the road. There are takeaways within walking distance.

  Good units, poor service

  We stayed here for 17 days. Whilst the unit seemed to have been recently refurbished the service was very poor. Room cleaning was varied and sporadic, the office was never attended. The cancellation policy was draconian. They took the full 17 days on the card on the day we arrived and would not countenance a refund. We would have left earlier if we could.
