Good location, bad smell, bad facilities, very outdated.Pros: - Close to Chester Zoo / Blue Planet Aquarium / Cheshire Oaks. - A friendly welcome from the Receptionist when we arrived. - Beds were quite comfortable. Cons: - The room had a strange/horrible smell which I noticed as soon as we walked in. - There was a huge lack of plug sockets available. My partner and I wanted to charge our phones next to our beds overnight but could only find one socket on the other side of the room. - The bath was dirty, which is bad enough at any time but during a pandemic I thought hygiene and cleanliness would be a priority. It was also very uncomfortable; the shape of it made it impossible to lie down in (unless I wanted to strain my neck), so it was only possible to sit in it. Not great when you just want a nice relaxing bath. There was also only enough hot water for one person. We didn't realise this until after I'd had a bath, and then my son and partner weren't able to even have a shower. We shouldn't have had to choose which one of us gets to clean themselves! - The shower gel / "shampoo" isn't shampoo at all. I don't know what it is but it absolutely ruined my hair. I'm what I'd describe as "low maintenance" so this definitely isn't a case of being snobby. I'm very familiar with the standard hotel 2 in 1 shampoo/shower gels and I know they're never going to be salon quality but I never usually have a problem. Until now.. Not only did it smell bad, but it matted my hair so bad I thought I was going to have to cut it. I have a Tangle Teezer brush which is specifically for wet hair and is brilliant at gliding through knots effortlessly. However, even using that, I was sat in front of the mirror for nearly an hour, trying/failing to brush the matted knots out of my hair caused by that 'shampoo'. Loads of my hair got ripped out in the process (see pics) and it actually hurt. I've never had this problem with any hair products/toiletries before in my life. And to top it off there wasn't even a hair dryer available. - It's not exactly cheap for what you get. They either need to up the standards or lower the price considerably. Such a shame as we use Travelodge quite a lot and usually only ever have great things to say but this has put us off.

Battered, bashed and very tiredFreezing cold on arrival. This place needs a massive overhaul. Carpets need a deep clean - very noisy doors - bathroom is a "slam shut" mechanism - automatic door closures banged and badly need adjusting. Breakfast boxes are diar - don't bother!! Wifi £3 a day, car park badly maintained there was a nasty flood at the entrance. Twice the price as the one at Bebbington. A very disappointing stay indeed - I won't be back - sorry - it was an expensive no frills stayover for two days when viewing houses. Quite a depressing place

Handy for major routes on the WirralFriendly staff, extremely clean with plenty of hand sanitizer in all main and communal areas. We were offered information about local eateries and shopping, which we found helpful. Shared car park with a large coffee shop so sometimes busy
