Not ImpressedThis is a very old 2 star Motel which has been updated in some areas but really needs to be torn down. We booked for 3 nights but ended up just staying one as the room they gave us (after complaining about the room we were first given) was apparently not available so we either went back to the first one or left so we decided to leave. The pictures that they show on their website are not accurate, the swimming pool is closed, there is no breakfast included, the parking lot is dirty and untidy with people sitting around drinking beer and shouting obscenities. We definitely will not be back.

Great Staff!!!Just returned from a 3 day stay at Travelodge Port Elgin. The hotel is old, but the staff are exceptional!! I called before I arrived and spoke to Kristen, she was very patient with me on the phone. On check in, COVID rules were in place, wear a mask, the front desk was screened in. The young man who checked me in was super friendly, professional and offered to print me an extra receipt. Kristen was sitting beside him and said hi. When I got into my room I opened the bedside table and found some used tissue and other garbage in the drawer, I immediately found a housekeeping staff, another young man and showed him what was inside the bedside table, he removed it and sanitized the drawer. He told me that the cleaning staff forgot to open that drawer and he thanked me for being so understanding. We were in room 63, and had a little patio. Bedding, bathroom, fridge and microwave were all clean. Due to COVID, it was nice to have the patio door open to get some fresh air in. I noticed that the halls were sprayed with disinfectant nightly, as I could smell it in my room. A big thank you and much appreciation to the staff at Travelodge Port Elgin!!!

False AdvertisingWe booked a four night stay planning to use the beach and indoor swimming pool at the hotel. When we arrived we were informed that the pool was closed, even though it was advertised and shown on their (and your) websites. They gave no reason for the closure or any indication of when it would re-open. We stayed the first night only, but cancelled the other three nights and went to another hotel. In effect we lost one whole day of our vacation by having to switch hotels. At the least the guy on the front desk was very helpful. Also, the hotel was shabby and had not been refurbished or kept up to date. The next morning we found that no breakfast was provided and we had to eat at a small restaurant attached to the hotel where the food was mediocre and over priced.

Like No Travelodge I've Visited Befiore or Hope to AgainI guess you shouldn't book a room when the first picture on the website you see is the swimming pool...Thought this Travelodge was similar to ones we stayed at before. The Travelodge brand wasn 't even thought of when this motor hotel was built. The room was decorated in the eighties and hasn't changed much. The carpet (stained at the door) looks to be 20 years old. Lots of wood furniture that was tired and mismatched. No hairdryer or plastic glasses for drinking. If you like a very hard bed, this rooms for you. Couldn't leave fast enough in the morning.

New Owner Bad for BusinessI recently stayed at Travelodge (Port Elgin), 20 nights over 4 weeks. Room was clean, ladies at front desk were awesome. Zero service as per covid as was expected. At the end of my stay the Bruce eliminate a couple of shifts. When I informed the Travelodge I was informed that they would not reimburse my nights, even though it was more then 24 hours in advance. I could have the rooms when I return. To me, that's bad business. I will return to Port Elgin as I love the town and I will be doing more work in the coming years at Bruce. I found out that others I was working with have also had similar experiences and they too will not return. They all had good stories about the past ownership. The Bruce parking lot was very busy. The Port Elgin Travelodge was not. Theres a reason. Keep my money and your room Travelodge Mike M
