  Average hotel facilities with Exceptional Staff

  We stayed at this hotel for one night with our two boys aged 7 and 8. We booked a two bedroom apartment via a third party website. The staff at this hotel are exceptional and very friendly and helpful. The front desk, housekeeping and restaurant staff were outstanding. They were friendly to the kids, the restaurant staff even teaching our child how to fold napkins into crown shapes. The hotel itself is fine but showing age in places. The room was very large with kitchenette, dining table, lounge, a Western and Indonesian bathroom. The swimming pool is reasonable for a city hotel and was a welcome relief from the heat outside. TV and Wifi in the room were great. The second room is extremely small with room for only one single bed and minimal standing room at the foot of the bed. We were in what the hotel classes as a standard 2 bedroom apartment. We ate at the hotel restaurant which had a Western Style menu and was pleasant and ok value.. We did have a misunderstanding on check in regarding our website booking indicating sleeping for 4 but the room only having beds for 3. The hotel management were not prepared to honour the booking despite being shown the website. After much negotiation we ended up with a mattress on the floor of the living room for no charge. This was a satisfactory arrangement but I was disappointed we had to negotiate for as long as we did to get this result. If I had realised this would be the sleeping arrangement I may have selected a different hotel when booking as I think for a little more money there is a big step up in value available. There is a bit of street noise but being located in a large city this is expected and did not disturb us.

  Poor customer service

  Upgraded to a suite with 2 rooms, since upon arrival all single rooms were full. Suite was very BIG but very smelly, filled with cigarettes smell, from towels, sofas to bedings. No non-smoking floor / rooms. Although they sprayed fragrances to mask the smell, it did not work. Had to bear with smell for 4 nites, causing me headaches daily. Upon departure, they insisted that i consumed a can of coke from the MINIBAR which I didn't. Finally paid for it coz didn't want to miss my flight home.

  Worst food in three months southeast asia

  The room is really big, nice and spacious. The staff barely speaks english, but they try and are really friendly. However, the food we ordered was the worst we had in three months backpacking through southeast asia. The spaghetti primavera was not actually spaghetti primavera. There were no vegetables, only green sauce that was incredibly spicy and I am not even sure how to describe the taste. They were really nice taking it back and we ordered the spaghetti bolognese instead. It was better than the primavera, but still bad. It had loads of black pepper in it, ruining the taste. We are not picky with food, we have ordered streetfood loads of times, not always knowing what we ordered. We got pork when we ordered hamburgers in Myanmar, but the food at travellers suites was simply the worst. We switched to d'primahotel. The hotel is less luxurious, near a noisy trainstation, but also across the street from centrepoint shopping mall where there are a lot of decent restaurants (bakezin is great).

  Very bad experience

  Never had a terrible stay experience like this in our life before. We booked the hotel online, but when we get there they said the booking was not there. But we have booked and paid all in full. And the staff in the front desk is not helpful and friendly. We were forced to find for a different hotel since we were not attended to and they were not bothered. One of the worst experience for us. PLEASE DONT GET HERE IF YOU WANT TO BOOK ONLINE! THEY ARE TYPICALLY MONEY MINDED!

  Long stay

  My wife and I stayed in Traveller Suites for almost 3 months. The housing is good, clean and tidy, though not very sound proof. The staff became friends of ours and they are very professional and friendly. Ot is walking distance from malls and parks and very central. If I go back to Medan again, I would love to go back to Traveller Suites again.
