Westerners first experience in JapanThe staff here are very friendly. The rooms are small, at least to American standards but if your just looking for a bed and a love to drop your stuff, this is a great place. The hotel is close to local restaurants and a shopping mall as well. The key has a stick attached that turns on the power, and you must return it when you leave for the day, which means no A/C running while your gone! A charming feature of his place is hat they provide you with sterilized pajamas like Ebineezer Scrooge.

HolidayWe stayed here on the 17th August 2016. It's a long story that I won't go into here but we arrived here very hot, very tired and very stressed. A young man who had a little English went out of his way to help us out. He'll never know how much his kindness meant to us that day. Hotel is basic but this guy makes it 5 star.

Very reasonableJust beside Tobu Utsunomiya station, Toyoko Inn is a very convenient business hotel at reasonable price. It is simple, but comfortable. The breakfast, which starts at 6:30 at the main lobby, is complimentary.

Excellent Room ServicePeople are courteous friendly and generally very excited for you to be there. However not many people know how to speak English other than wake up call, so it is really what you need. Breakfast is free and usually very filling with all you can eat, don't come down for breakfast right when it opens though, because there will be a line, give it a few minutes before the first crowd dies down. There is a Seven Eleven I holdings right across the street, with some delicious pre made sandwiches, come in handy while you are running late or had to much to drinnk on your way back to the room.

Typical Japanese business hotelA hard bed and slippery quilt made for an unrestful night. The room is compact yet fully equipped. Everything is very clean and although near a train station relatively quiet. The breakfast is unappetising, basic Japanese fare. The front counter staff were officious.
