My new favorite place in Pittsburgh area

We have struggled finding a place to stay on the drive between Toronto and Charlotte. After this recent stay at TownePlace Suites, this is definitely on my list of places to return to. The staff were courteous and helpful. The room was reasonable size and had many thoughtful touches: lots of outlets to plug in our many devices, a shower with controls on the end opposite the shower head so that you do not get a blast of cold water when you step in, a sofa with head rest so you can lounge and watch TV, a condo sized fridge and dishwasher, to name a few. Location is conveniently off I-79. Lots of restaurant options within a short drive. And it was attractively priced compared to other hotels we stayed at during this road trip. Highly, highly recommend.

    Travel in Cranberry

Check in was easy. The rooms are huge, almost like a mini apartment with full size kitchen. The room was very clean and comfy. The breakfast was hot and very good. The staff was friendly and helpful. Check out was easy.

    Dirty rooms

Disappointed. I stayed here on the evening of 6/22/20. I was given multiple dirty rooms. Sheets werent changed and bathroom was left uncleaned. It took 3 tries to get me a clean room and even then I was left unimpressed. I understand that they are likely short staffed but to not have someone checking these rooms after they are supposedly clean is not the way to go. Everything just feels dirty about this place. Hallways are left unswept, streak marks on Mirrors, hard surfaces in rooms are dirty, walls are not being wiped down, bed frames left I dusted, etc. Multiple issues. Implementing some form of quality control will likely resolve a lot of these issues.

    travel in the COVID era

This was my only hotel stay since December '19 as three earlier trips this year were cancelled as has Thanksgiving travel plans. For us, this wasn't much of a trip as it's maybe 10 miles away. A kitchen remodeling project was going to limit access to our kitchen during the work day so I decided it would be better to go where we could have a refrigerator available without bothering the workers, so this fit that bill. There were a lot of good aspects to this hotel. First off, it appears to be fairly new. The room was attractive. The kitchenette was very adequate for a short stay, the TV was high quality, the channel selection was sufficient, the bed was comfortable. The room also had plenty of light/lamp options as well as enough plugs, including two for USB cords. The location is close enugh off I-79, the PA Turnpike & Rt 19 for close access, but far enough off of these roads not to hear any traffic. Cranberry has plenty of shopping so bringing food in was easy. THere are also many restaurants for most tastes in the immediate area. Parking outside seemed adequate, though I could not tell the occupancy rate as no one hung-out in the lobby area. What didn't I like - the bathroom. It had a commode, sink & a shower, so nothing was missing. It didn't have a bathtub & though I would not use one, many people prefer it. Perhaps some rooms have one if you like it better. The shower atall was ginormous - it could fit everyone in your room in at once if you're into that. It just seemed like wasted space. Also, if the sink could have been positioned separately outside, someone else could use it while another person was in the main bathroom. I also found it dumb that there was a total of one towel hook in there. I'm always willing to re-use towels, but only if they can dry adequately from the last use. I didn't bother trying. The other quirk was the Wi-Fi - it would always disconnect after a session & I'd have to re-connect each time after leaving the room & returning, despite my having selected to "remember me (my devices)" for four days. As it turned out, my bill was quite long due to being charged $4.95 for the enhanced version for each log-in & then being credited for each log-in since I'm a Marriott GOLD Member. Other then having to go through the connection process each time, the actual internet service was fine. The other thing I didn't much care for was the breakfast. I realize it's COVID, so things wouldn't be as normal, but what they offered was putrid. Pre-packaged muffins, a granola bar, a small piece of sad-looking fruit & yogurt. I can't see why they could not have offered freshly-baked muffins from a local bakery instead. The beverage offered was bottled water - whooopee!!!. No juice, no milk. They could have had those individual boxes of cereal, packaged instant oats & individual cartons of milk since each guest had a kitchen with bowels & a microwave to make the oatmeal, if they had it. Grade: F- Since there's a Walmart & Giant Eagle (local grocery chain) nearby, I got my own breakfast items, just as I did for luch & dinner (as I expected for the latter two). Had I the appetite for a steak, hamburger, etc - there were large grills outside in a nice seating area. There's also a pool that's quite large for any hotel pool I've een. With this place the good things I found to be very good & things I disliked, I disliked a lot. Nothing was so-so. Maid service was limited, which I expected & was fine not to have it for my short stay. My towels were replenished at my request.

    Bad customer service

I stayed the hotel over two weeks because of my work. It was so hard to get my room cleaned. I thought they would clean it in every five days like they told me. Receptionists were never sorry about that. One of the receptionists eats chunk food and watch Netflix during the shift every day. Also the level of the cleanliness was pretty bad. It feels cloying especially now during corona.
