  Pros and Cons

  Pros: - Good location! Close to a lot of restaurants and shopping - Clean - Small but inviting lobby with coffee, hard candy, and cookies available - Relatively quiet - Complimentary breakfast Cons - I passed by it, difficult to see from road. Located behind Dennys - The photos are deceiving! There is no pool, but rather a very small hot tub with no lock, and broken jets

  Older building, but 5 star staff.

  The building is on the older side, the building only has one elevator, which was on the other side of the building from our room. With that said though the premises are clean and inviting. What really made this experience very good were the staff. Particularly the manager, Ali who is unfailingly friendly and professional.

  Sorry; Last time I will ever stay here

  I have stayed at this location several times on business trips due to its location (approximation to my work in Houston) and that I like the staff friendliness. Unfortunately, the property has declined one time and Marriott is not addressing any of the issues. On this particular visit, I will explain why I gave it only one star (my first ever, I believe): 1. First thing I noticed as I entered my room was the smell. It was the "humid/musty" smell that you get in a basement that hasn't been cared for 2. Bathroom fixtures: Had nicks and holes in the tub, as well as a toilet that "ran" incessantly 3. Air conditioning unit very loud 4. The "suite" bedroom did not have air conditioning at all, so I had to keep the door open. This was also because the "fan" that was placed in the wall to draw air into the bedroom was broken. So, the noise kept me up most of the night every time the air conditioner turned on. 5. And last straw: After staying the evening and getting up to take a shower the next morning, I moved the bathmat and found the largest ROACH I believe I have ever seen! After screaming (at 5 am) and running from the bathroom, I called the front desk. the poor front desk attendant had to come up to take care of the roach. Bless her heart...she was as grossed out as I was, but there she was-armed with a rag, something to hit it with, and some roach spray. She killed it, flushed it down my toilet and left. And then...I took a quick shower (hating being in that bathroom the whole time) and got out of the room/hotel as fast as possible. I insisted on a refund for my room, got one with an apology, and I will not return.

  Review!!

  We had a nice time. The rooms was neat and clean. The employees was very courteous and kind. The breakfast was very good. It was quiet and peaceful. Great location. Close to alot of restaurants and stores.

  In the Time of Covid-19

  First off I will say that the room was very nice and the hotel in general was pleasant as well, including the man who staffed the front desk at the time. I arrived thinking that I just needed to check in for my prepaid reservation after an overnight drive into town, and I was ready to collapse. There would be no turning back and during the pandemic, I strongly feel that the hotel could've been more sympathetic and not just tried to take every dollar they could. I only found out at the time of booking a reservation in person (the third party website I originally used was not actually submitting my reservation; it was stuck in a pending stage) how much the pet fee was. I was told by the front desk that the fee would be $150 on top of the $50 deposit. But when I look at the website for Towneplace suites, the pet fee is only $100. I had actually tried to negotiate down from $150 to $100, since they don't offer any sort of military discount (they're all over the Covid-19 responders, yet seem to have no respect for our military). Funny that I was made to believe the fee was higher than it actually was, because there was no problem in taking $50 off that fee for me as a bargaining chip. Now, a week later, I am just now being charged for the room plus all of the fees and they even kept my deposit. We did not damage the room, take anything we didn't come in with, nor did we cause any problems. I am a very mindful guest and great each place I stay as if it were my own-- and I take care of my own. This makes me feel not only that I was taken advantage of, but also that these people are greedy and dishonest. The pet fees were made to seen higher than was the case and I can look past that, my fault. But trying to keep my deposit for no good reason is what really pisses me off about greedy hotels; especially trying to keep the deposit of someone like myself, despite how considerate I am as a guest. Safe to say that I will never stay here again.
