  cheap and traditional

  This was a stop over on our way to the Italian lakes, the owner directed our motor bike to his private garage, rather than park it outside, he was very welcoming, and spoke good English! Our room was very clean, the bathroom was an interesting set up, a loo with a shower, and the basin in the room! Beds were clean & comfy, decor dated, but clean, and we had everything we needed, hot water, shower, bed! We spent a happy few hours in the bar, and had a great evening meal, staff were warm and friendly, lots of locals in playing cards and chatting, and a coach party of elderly Germans too! Breakfast was good, and for the price £88 for the night, and approx £30 for 2 meals, local beers and brandies all afternoon and evening, not bad for Switzerland!

  Horrific for 130 CHF

  Well...Sweet smell of i don't what in hallway and room... looks like tourist are annoying for the owner, decoration never updated from the stone ages. We don't ask for much when we travel but this place is probably one of the worst disappointment we've had.

  Great location, friendly staff, comfortable beds, incredible views

  We stayed here for 3 nights as a short getaway. There is no fuss with the hotel Tourist, which is just what we wanted. Ample parking, friendly owners who, without fussing over you, are able to provide answers to every question on request. Don't be expecting a massive room, but if you can, request a room with a view of the lake in your booking, (or better, do it in German - Ein zimmer mit Seeblick wenn möglich bitte!). The view is simply stunning. They are happy to speak English if you ask, but respond in German if you try, which again, we like. The restaurant serves decent, hearty food, with the local specialty, roast chicken in a basket.

  Old, but well maintained hotel

  The building is very old, hasn't had many upgrades, but has been well maintained. The rooms are small and the bathrooms even smaller. The staff has been helpful and friendly. But Wow! You can't beat the view! So overall a good value room for the price, considering this is Lake Lucern.

  Great stay when travelling on a tight budget.

  After a long day of mishaps, a lunch at 17:00 and a very late arrival at Hotel Tourist - all because of a coach company that were not committed to delivering the service they were contracted to do - we arrived at Hotel Tourist with our group of 50+ pax and were treated like family! The check in process ran smoothly. Yes, this wooden chalet hotel might be too traditional for some guests, but we found it oozing charm. The rooms were spotless and functional. Many of the rooms have the best view one could ask for: the mirror surface of Lake Lucerne and the most beautiful mountains as a backdrop. I must say our group LOVED it! Our dinner and breakfast was great - especially considering that the staff had to wait for our group to arrive, because of our coach breakdowns. They were friendly, patient and accommodating in every way. Sonya went out of her way to help us with directions to our next destination - thanks for the Swiss map - and sent our 46 teenagers and their chaperons off with a traditional cake of this area each! What a wonderful idea... Thanks so much Peter and Sonya for making our brief transit time through Switzerland so special. We will most definitely return to the Hotel Tourist in future.
