Perfect for a short stay in Kochi

Located conveniently less than 10min walk to JR Kochi Station this Hotel offers traditional Japanese (ryokan) style sleeping on futons on the tatami floor. The rooms were a bit tired and need of some new wallpaper or pictures to hide some marks but the onsen (hot baths) and endless plates of delicious local food (dinner & breakfast included) made up for it.

Easy walk from the Kochi train station

Just a couple of blocks from the train station. A very nice hotel. WI-FI in all areas of the hotel. I had a tatami room with western low beds. The room came with shower. They have a public furo for those wanting to take a full bath and soaking in hot water. Breakfast was included in my plan. Great selections including made-to-order musubis. Only problem the musubi selections were written in Japanese. A mini-van will take you to the train station. The building abutting the hotel is a large hotel with a 7-eleven. They have everything except alcohol because the store was part of the hospital. Easy walking distance from hotel to all the major sites such as the shopping arcades, Hirome Market, and Kochi Castle.

    Hot spring and lunch

I enjoyed hot spring and good lunch in this Japanese style inn. Its traditional Japanese inn, but you can also enjoy only hot spring and lunch even though youll not stay this hotel. Personally, I love this hot spring so much!!!

Try some Kochi "TLC"! - Tradition, Local, Convenience

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Tosa Goyen, a lovely ryokan (traditional Japanese hotel) conveniently located in Kochi, only a short walk from the station. Very good wi-fi and hot spring baths available. Wonderful staff and an incredible breakfast buffet! Highly recommended.

    Lovely

Yes the decor is dated, yes it does look a bit like it used to be grander and has fallen into genteel disuse, but everything works and boy do they try to make you feel welcome. And the food in the evening is superb. I spent two nights there, stuck in my room with a great view onto the river whilst the typhoon hit Kochi, so had lunch there too. I was lucky as my room had such a view, not all of them do and it was quiet, large, with one of those bathroom in a box you get in some hotel. There is a small 7 eleven next door and they have a gift shop and ice cream parlour in the hotel, as well as some conference room and karaoke lounge. Lunch and breakfast are buffet style, so you are bound to find something to make you happy even if the setting for lunch and breakfast is a bit school hall like. For each evening meal In the restaurant upstairs, I was given an English version of the menu (how they did it, not sure, google translate?) printed nicely and prettily just for me. The seared bonito (a Kchi speciality) is to die for, they even put up a demonstration for the kids they took me along to of how the chef prepares it. Not sure if they do that all the time or if that was just to entertain the guest stranded by the typhoon. But even without any other common language than google translate and one lovely young girl who spoke some English and was roped in to serve me the first day, they were all delightful and trying very very hard to give the best service possible in trying circumstances which as far as I am concerned is far more important and telling than faded wall paper (which in this warm and humid weather probably fades within a couple of months). And then the manager even drove me to the train station. As it turns out the location is also very convenient if there is no typhoon.
