Special location special stayTiritiri lodge is a magical spot with an excellent level of service amazing food and fantastic location. Steph and Denis go all out to make your stay as good as it can could be. The spa is especially good after a hard day at the mountains.

Wonderful place to stayThis is the most amazing place we stayed at during our stay in in New Zealand. We stayed here prior to our small wedding and it was the best decision ever!Tiritiri Lodge is absolutely beautiful and the most relaxing place we've ever been! We had long sleep and relaxing afternoon just hanging out in this spacious and comfortable lodge. In the mornings we went out for a run along the lake which is literally 2minutes away from the lodge. It's so relaxing! There are also bike paths if you want to do mountain biking. Since Tiffany is a chef we also asked her to cater for our small wedding. The food that Tiffany catered for our small wedding is to die for! They were very delicious! And the desserts were heavenly. I tell you, she's very very good. She know's exactly what we wanted. We were quite sad leaving the place as we felt like it was a home more than just a temporary place to stay at. We would love to comeback here in the future. The only downside is that if you dont have a car the place is perhaps a bit far to walk to the main town, You could walk but a little bit far. But I am sure they have bike that you can borrow and since we do not have car we contacted Wana-Taxi who are the most reliable taxi service you can hire. The taxi is 15NZD from town to the lodge and from lodge to town its 20NZD. Otherwise everything is amazing! The view is absolutely beautiful from our lodge!

Not a Lodge, Not LuxuryDon't believe everything you see on the web. We love Wanaka and have always very much enjoyed the Wharekea which we believe was one of the truly best lodges in the whole country. When they stopped accepting individuals (you need to book the whole lodge) we scrambled to find another great place. Google led us to Tiritiri. It bills itself as a luxury rental property. It is a house. Very beautiful in a good location with great views from the upstairs bedroom. That is where is all stops. I had to ask for a bar of soap. There was no shampoo or conditioner but I jar of some green liquid soap. We were there three nights. No maid service. Make your own bed. Keep your towels. Even the towels from the other rooms had been removed. The dryer did not work. Be very careful what you think you are getting. If you want a bare bones nice house good - anything more -NO!

This is not a Luxury LosgeTiritiri Lodge was advertised as a luxury property and this was what we expected. This holiday was a special treat and we wanted accommodation to suit the occasion. Unfortunately, nothing here is luxurious. Best and worst about the accommodation. Best: Great views from the upstairs bedroom. Comfortable king bed. Spacious house. Quiet location. Worst: The owners' house looks into your house, so you feel like there is no privacy. The blinds need to stay permanently closed on one side or you feel someone's looking in. Forget about using the spa and outside areas if you value time on your own. On arrival, the kitchen smelt of meaty cooking smells and needed airing. It took at least 2 days to clear the odour. Getting your luggage from the garage involves quite a walk over a rough surface. When we reached the property, we were told quite abruptly not to park closer, but the access to your house is up the owners' driveway. The kitchen is downstairs and is not set up very well. You get a bench to sit on, the dining area is small and there is little kitchen space either. There were no salad bowls, no serving bowls, few utensils, no tea towels and we had to purchase a knife to cut bread, as those provided were so blunt. The pantry had a few basic supplies but many of these were out-of-date items. Written instructions told us to place our garbage in bins in the garage, which we did. These bins were full to overflowing and clearly hadn't been emptied for some time. A bad look! There was a general feeling of meanness. The downstairs bathroom did not have a hand towel (apparently we weren't supposed to use it) toilet paper was in limited supply, there were no spare towels ( we needed a second bath mat after the shower flooded, which it did after every use), the cheap toiletries provided were in bottles only a quarter full. The lounge furniture was uncomfortable. The "little things" were not thought of and there was no attention to detail. The upstairs bathroom: The shower leaked everywhere because the drain is not long enough. The drain was also quite dirty. Simple design problems caused discomfort. There were not enough towels to mop up the water, we had to try and dry the towels on the balcony. All towels seemed to be removed from the cupboard downstairs. Does this sound like "luxury" yet? This isn't a "luxury lodge". Rather, it is a fairly basic house to rent, with views from upstairs. Our first impressions were that we had made a mistake. We also did not receive a warm welcome; the owners showed little interest in us for the duration of our stay. This wasn't a great concern, but given how close they were, it would have been more comfortable if they'd been approachable and welcoming. Any business involved in the service industry should know the importance of a genuine welcome and farewell to their customers. If we had not been lead to expect a luxurious property, it would have been more acceptable. Overall though, this property is very underwhelming.

BIGGEST REGRET OF OUR HOLIDAYWe rented Tiri Tiri because the photos looked amazing, also it was listed as a luxury property. We were looking forward to it the most but It turned out to be our biggest disappointment!!! We arrived to a piece of paper stuck on the front door which said "Welcome, instructions are on the dining table". This was literally the ONLY communication we received from the owners the whole time. We walked in and the smell hit us immediately. It was foul like a fake tan, overheated mouldy kind of odour. We ended up going to buy candles to mask the smell. We also had to leave all the doors open which made life difficult when we had a 5 and 2 yo and a pond outside. Not to mention the temperature of 3-5degrees outside. The instructions were completely non existent. There was nothing on the dining table. No folder, no paper nothing. We had no idea how to use heating, TVs, satellite TV, where bins were etc it was a joke. I looked around for my cot for my son which I had asked for, again there was nothing. This sent us into panic stations a little bit as I needed a bed for our son. I rang, emailed, knocked on the door, then did it all again. Not a single response. Honestly- your guest writes an email asking for details on where the portacot is for a baby........ you would think you'd give a response and perhaps teeny tiny apology? After a few hours of looking everywhere, I started to poke my nose in the cupboards that said "private" and found piles of blankets unfolded just thrown on top of each other in balls, with a vacuum cleaner thrown on top. I started to rummage through and eventually found a portacot. There was also an extra cot mattresses but I'll be honest I didn't use it because once I saw the cleanliness standard in this cupboard I decided against it. The kitchen wasn't clean, dishes in the dishwasher was a great welcome. The pantry had crusty out of date products that I would not touch. It was disgusting The sauna outside didn't work. I'd hazard a guess this had been the case for a while by the look of the piece of paper stuck on the wall. Showers weren't great either. Plus Hot water takes five minutes of running before it starts to warm. A few other basic things that didn't work - DVD Player in lounge - Fireplace - TV in main bedroom couldn't get channels of any kin - Locks in door in upstairs balcony Heaters were all timed for the day. But turned off at night. Which seems fine for everyone with an electric blanket, but when my 2yo is in a cot, in a 11 degree room I'd really like an option to turn the heater on. We had to pile rubbish out the front door for our whole stay because we couldn't find bins. Eventually the morning we left we did a big search and found them tucked in the garage and not empty. Overall , this place gives the impression that the owners stopped caring a really long time ago. A week later and they still haven't responded to my email. I know they were home as cars were there, lights were on etc they just didn't care. They should be embarrassed about how they manage this place - I paid half as much elsewhere in NZ and was given much better facilities, cleanliness and service than they offer. If you don't have the time or care just stop offering this place to the public, or at least stop charging through the nose. Do not stay here, please. You will be disappointed.
