  Location, Location, Location - room is lacking.... a lot

  I booked the last room and instantly regretted it after reading reviews. I was unable to cancel the booking because I was a few minutes after midnight. We arrived early evening and the outside of the building was very dated - not at all what we were expecting from the pictures. The gentleman who checked us in was very friendly and efficient but the lobby was pretty dilapidated. We had a premium 2 queen room - one of the most expensive ones and he told me it was next door. I was hopeful the property next door was nicer. It wasn't. We were told that it was a non smoking property including on the balconies. The guests on the floor below us were smoking on their balcony and left their room door open in an attempt to air it out - meaning the entire hall way and upstairs reeked of smoke. The elevator was broken so we were forced to take the stairs with all our belongings and 2 small children. The room had a not stating it had been sanitized for covid - yet it was filthy. The walls dirty, floor was stained, bathroom was disgusting. They may have wiped down a few things like the microwave and refridgerator handles but beyond that the room was very gross. The beds were surprisingly comfortable. The towels and sheets were stained. The rooms had beautiful views and were in a decent location but beyond that, this was a giant waste of money. The hot water in the tub didn't even work - so no baths for the kids. The phone didn't work either. We paid a small fortune for this room. The same amount would have given us a one bedroom condo in Hawaii. I'm disgusted that the inn charges so much for a dirty, run down, unsanitary place. I would give cleanliness negative stars if I could. The staff is great and the view is beautiful, everything else was terrible.

  Older section is one of the worst places I've ever stayed in.

  Do not stay in the old motel section of this hotel. First of all the price is at least twice what it should be even if it is on the water. Small, old room. TV remote didn't work. Horrible bed with hard pillows. The "balcony" is next to a path along the water and people can look right into your room. The balcony is dry-rotted, paint-peeled and has an old tub sitting on it without fixtures. Really nasty place if you ask me. I also didn't care for the staff's attitude. When you arrive, they hand you a folded paper that "contains information" - actually it outlines the rules and why there is no breakfast as advertised and the strict cancellation rules that apply even though you haven't yet seen the place (it's down the street) and are stuck with it. By the way, the picture of this room was not of this room, but a much nicer room in the new building. On top of all that the price was at least double what it should have been after seeing it. I only slept about half the night because there was no air conditioning.

  misleading website

  I book 2 rooms from the website for my father in laws birthday. we drove 3 hours and were excited to check in and relax. when I arrived I was handed keys and told to drive down the street to a separate parking lot. This place looks like a dump from the outside and the rooms inside were ever worse! The carpet had not been vacuumed and the walls were filthy. There is a broken hot tub on the rotted deck and sticky stuff all over the tv stand with holes in it. after the look on my families face I immediately went to the office and asked for a return. I was offered a nicer room in the actual hotel but only one room for 4 people was not going to work. I explained to them this is false advertisement. what you see online is not what you are getting!

  Not what we expected

  The Tides Inn & Suites is a very nice property. It sits on the water with a beautiful view. We had a handicap room with a small balcony. There is a walking trail along the water right next to the room. For privacy, we kept the blinds closed and only opened them when we wanted to look at the view. The room has rococo styling. There is a very large bathroom. The room has a mini-fridge which was helpful. The staff was very helpful. There were drawbacks to the room. It isnt a true handicap room. My husband uses a large motorized wheelchair. The balcony is not handicap accessible. The door is too narrow for the wheelchair. The bathroom tub has sliding glass doors which made it impossible for my husband to use. He was able to use the bathroom sink but its mounted too low to fit the wheelchair under it. The beds were comfortable. I moved furniture away from one of the beds so my husband could get next to it to transfer into the bed. The room was pricey for the area. Between the lack of ADA compliance and the cost, we wouldnt stay here again.

  Find somewhere else

  Best thing about this place is the location. Our first room was so old and freezing- it was not what expected through the photos we saw. This section needs some serious maintenance - we were upgraded at our cost to the main area. Very old and outdated. No breakfast or beverages. Wouldnt return
