Cancelled visit, poor customer serviceI want to make people aware that we cancelled our booking after receiving a phone call less than 24 hours before our intended arrival explaining that none of the facilities we had expected to use were up and running. No bar, no restaurant, no pool (which was open but due to restricted opening hours, we were informed it would not be possible for us to utilise during our 1 night stay). It took 2 hours on the phone to customer services in the US to cancel our booking, we had to forward our booking confirmation to prove that we were not lying about having no information regarding the facilities until today. Whilst I understand that during these unprecedented times, we must make sacrifices however other hotels have managed to keep facilities open within the current restrictions, why not this one? If the changes had been clearly communicated before / at time of booking then we would have felt fully informed. I recommend that no one books with Diamond Resorts (Thurnham Hall), rest assured we will not.

Nice unit but nonsense at check in.When we arrived at 3p.m. assumed it would be as in other DRI resorts - check in and wait for the unit to be ready. Not so here, we were told to wait outside for an hour or go to a garden centre! We are both 73 years old and would have liked to be allowed indoors at least. I had already been phoning a number displayed at the door and it just rang out and continued to ring out as I donned a face covering and went to ask about checking in. 2 staff in the bar misdirected me to the rear of the building - a notice said reception is at the front of the building where I found two staff members chatting. There was one guest in the vast lounge. Told we must wait outside till 4p.m. Only needed to take our temperature and we were wearing face masks so why couldn´t we be checked in and rest in the lounge ? Three couples and a single waiting in a queue outside like naughty children and on the next day seven cars queued up at 4:10. I know it's strange times but how more unwelcoming can you get?

Terrible customer serviceMy boyfriend had arranged us a couple of nights at Thurnham Hall for my birthday. We found out that I was pregnant and my morning sickness was horrific, I was very poorly. My boyfriend contacted the staff at Thurnham Hall and explained our situation (weeks before we were due to arrive) they advised that they weren't willing to move or amend the booking and that they would not refund any amount of the payment made. My boyfriend waited until the week before we were due to go and tried to call again to explain that I was still very unwell and we couldn't make the booking just to be told the same by someone else who was backed up by management. In this day and age with all the problems people are currently facing, customer service like this is horrific. We have stayed at Thurnham Hall in the past but I would not book to stay with them again following this bad experience. Hope you enjoyed taking our money, you won't be getting anymore from us.

Relaxing breakStayed for 3 nights in studio , last minute break for my partners Birthday, centrally located for lots of places to walk , close to Lancaster and Preston. Accommodation was immaculate, included large kitchen with full oven , microwave , fridge freezer and dishwasher . Bathroom had large corner bath and again immaculate. Perfect base for a short break, on site we swam twice and went to gym once, booked slots but all available and sanitisers etc all over gym . Ate in restaurant one evening ( an old chapel) the choice of menu and quality of food were fantastic, service superb, nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely go again and although we went away on an anniversary break, next time will take our children as ideal for them too. Well done Thurnham Hall , under difficult times we had a lovely relaxing break... much needed !
