A gem of YerevanI stayed here with a friend it is a lovely B&B. Our room was comfortable warm and fresh with considerable charm. The food was traditional Armenian, excellent and couldn't be faulted. Location is excellent in the hills above the city and in easy reach of all major amenities and attractions. The green location is also a good starting point for walks down into the city and up into the mountains behind Yerevan. We will definitely stay here again next time we come to Armenia.

excellent stop for lunchWe were out visiting a nearby monastery and our guide recommended we stop here for lunch. Great choice. Was a very pretty garden and building. Some had the local trout which they said was very good. I had beef and chicken and thought both were excellent.

OverratedWe spent our first three nights in an apartment in the center of Yerevan with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. We then decided to spend the next two nights at Three Jugs, based on excellent reviews on Tripadvisor. We thought it might be a good idea to get a feel of Armenian hospitality. Unfortunately, the experience was below our expectation, starting from the check-in. Upon our arrival, nobody greeted us. Two ladies saw us coming, but completely ignored us! Not even a 'hello', until we asked for Narine, who was very responsive to our enquiries prior to making our booking. The other two ladies that we first saw didn't speak a single English word! We booked a family room (one queen + 2 twin beds), which is okay, yet much less spacious compared to our apartment in Yerevan, with the same nightly rate. The only difference is Three Jugs serves basic Armenian breakfast. And by the way, our bathroom is outside the bedroom. If you prefer privacy, like myself, take this as a consideration. The location is about 15-20 minutes from the center of Yerevan (between AMD 1,200-1,800 by cab). Luckily, we asked Narine to write the direction in Armenian which turned out to be useful when hailing a cab from Yerevan, as most cab drivers do not speak English. According to her, the place is in the area of summer houses, hence there is no exact address. During our stay, we only saw one guy who also served us breakfast. He spoke good English but he seemed to prefer to avoid us, by staying in his basement room rather than establishing a conversation with us. So, forget about asking for some trip advices. Luckily, we got an excellent host and driver from the first apartment who continued giving us some trip advices. We have stayed in many B&B's in several countries before. Without having any hidden agenda whatsoever, unfortunately I have to say that this place is somehow overrated.

Enjoyed lunch hereTheir gizmo when we had lunch here was to prepare and bake Georgian bread in their own oven. The lady made the dough, slapped in onto the inside of the hot clay oven, and a few minutes later extracted the finished product, which we enjoyed with our lunch. Lunch was at a table in the garden, and we were with a group of 8 people. I doubt that you could get lunch for 2 here by just turning up. A typical Georgian lunch, with all the bits that you would expect in Georgia It is at the very edge of Tbilisi, so you would lunch here going to a or from local monasteries, rather than coming from the city. It is not easy to find, their sign is a bit faded !

Superb Friendly EstablishmentI did not stay in this lovely guesthoyse, but we did stop here for an absolutely fantastic lunch during a Hyur Travel day trip to Garni and Geghard. We were treated to a super lavish (traditional bread) making display using an ingenious old method using a columnal kiln dug into the ground whereby the dough was stretched on a pillow and then thumped onto the side of the kiln pit! Unbelievable. We got to eat as much of the delicious lavish as we could! There was a pottery demonstration too before the meal was served. Fantastic home cooking with salads, meats and a pastry dessert with absolutely beautiful home produced red wine. The best meal I've had in Armenia by a long, long way.
