Paradise foundAfter a 7 hour drive while relocating from Cape Town to Durban my sister and I had the the good fortune to book this lodge online. Some of the reviews were great and others not. Well to tell you we were pleasantly surprised would be an understatement.. The trip from the main road was down a dirt road past an industrial area didn't look too promising. HOWEVER once you cross the river bridge you are in for a treat. The welcome was warm, check in a breeze and our room/suite was well appointed. We had a pre dinner drink with the owners who are an exceptionally warm couple and very knowledgeable on travel in the area as well as the rest of Africa An early dinner was delicious, whilst chatting we advised that we would be leaving at six in the morning, as their breakfast starts at seven on the weekend we said we would forgo breakfast. The owner insisted that breakfast would be ready before we left. The lady who cooked our breakfast arrived at our room to inform us our breakfast was ready at 5:45. We were on our way at 6 as planned. Well rested and well fed to set us up for the next 7 hour leg of our journey. THANK YOU so very much for the best stay during our three day trip.

Peace and quiet a short way outside townWe stayed 6 nights at this lodge and was really satisfied with the service, the food and the rooms. Good quality food, clean and neat rooms with friendly staff who went out of their way to make us comfortable. Being on "farm" and in the bush was very pleasant. At night there was an owl calling just outside our room. Plentiful birdlife, a small river within very easy walk. Small buck and rabbits was regularly seen. Well done to the team there. I will stay there again!

Left before Entire Stay = it was that BadI wish I had more time, but in short: it was freezing, dirty/filthy, holes in curtains, blankets, etc... and the worst staff - manager Elsa - ever!!! Just look at her attitude to people who give accurate ratings on google maps for an example of what you're "up against" (seen too late). When i was there, i was the ONLY guest - goes to show others knew better than i did... I left after one night (despite a lengthier booking), and the worst thing is they refuse to refund you as they make you sign essentially your rights away, just to pay by credit card!!!!!

Very hospitable staff, unfortunate timing of our stayTo begin, I must say that Suriayya went above and beyond to welcome us and apologized for another group that was booked at the same time and was being very loud. In fact, the staff had them quieted down by 8:30pm which was fine. She even cooked a meal especially for us since we arrived after the kitchen was closed. You can't find better hospitality than what she showed us! That said, the reasons for the low rating are: -outdated facilities -self-catering not allowed -lack of drinkable water (there was a jug of water on the counter we were told was potable, but it was a refilled jug not a sealed bottle) -unable to use the jacuzzi (the main reason we booked here!) because they turned the heat off before we got there--we were advised we should book a time to use it -the room we booked was overbooked and they put our family into 2 rooms instead--that was fine (no extra charge), but my husband is tall and didn't fit well in the single bed he ended up in, and the covers were too small -no heat in the rooms -a single electrical plug was DIY re-wired to serve 2 lamps!!! The setting is quite beautiful--but the drive in is not for the faint of heart. It is 2km of unpaved road with several steep stretches and sharp turns. Fortunately it was dry when we were here. In all, we wouldn't go here again, but still emphasize that the staff were wonderful.

shockingSchool team stayed there recently, no electricity and hot water, only given after complaints. Money was given for food when it was stated they will get a meal. Most unfriendly owner, stay away people. Difficult to find on google maps, takes you to a area which shows you must walk through bush. Difficult for a bus to get there, roads are shocking in East london
