Central location and a pleasant stay in Haugesund city centerWe stayed two midsummer nights at this downtown hotel. The receptionists were very nice and accommodating. The hotel rooms are somewhat outdated and bear some wear and tear. + Central location one block from the pedestrian street in Haugesund city center + Breakfast buffet with self-service waffle and daily newspapers in the dining room + Nice reception + Motorcycle parking under roof visible from reception - Noise at night (music and traffic) - Varying quality of food and service in the breakfast room

Friendly atmosphereWe had the pleasure of staying in Thon hotel for three days and we were pleased with our stay. The hotel is though outdated and old and the hotel is being renovated now that reduces little the pleasure. But nice staff, perfect breakfast and good placement in town. The rooms are old but comfortable and cozy with soft beds.

Center of middle averageSome people think that a 5* review means a 5* property. Not at all. Torn Hotel Saga is a 3*, but it could easily be worth a 5* review. Sadly this middle of the road hotel only proves an average experience although that does not mean its bad. Some good points first, good location, free nearby parking after peak hours, membership at a nearby fully-equipped gym, and OK food. Good, but kind of expected. I don't even have a problem with the old school decor. Yes, it is dated and the hotel smells like grandmas but close your eyes a bit and you could be staying at grandmas. The lobby also smelt of Kømle as the smells from the restaurant wafted down. What I find strange is some of the little things. For example, after my man-style 60 second shower the bathroom floor was flooded. I can't imagine how that would be for people needing a shampoo and conditioning. It was still flooded after 30 minutes. There was a desk but very limited power sockets and no sockets at all near the bed for overnight mobile charging. There was one 1.3 meters up the wall to the side of the bed, but that would mean my phone dangerously hanging by the wire all night. Not unique to this hotel but the room lock also was a little crazy, sometimes not locking correctly when I left the room. The TV was positioned so it should be viewed from a chair and not from the bed. Grievances are only small and certainly not enough to stop a re-booking if required. But I always wonder if management ever stay in their own hotels and experiences these fixable faults. Maybe if they did they would agree its like a night at grandmas and they could rate it somewhere between "extra cookies" or "finding the false teeth".

Stay at HaugesundThe personnel is very professional, proactive and friendly. I was feeling welcome since i step inside until i left. For sure is absolutely positive my comment also because the position is right in the centre of the town and is nice to walk from the hotel to the harbour specially if sun is shining. I strongly suggest to try this hotel. You will feel like at home.

Quick stayRolled into town very late, called ahead and the staff was very accommodating, even when requesting a room with a view. Terese really hooked it up! Parking is close by, but you have to pay after 0800. Very central location with great views of the water from the communal balcony on the 7th floor. The rooms were larger than expected with all the amenities you could possibly need. The breakfast is fantastic! Overall one of the nicer hotels Ive stayed at while in Norway.
