  A Stay to Remember

  We decided to have our strategy off-site session at Thon Hotel Hallingdal. The looks of the hotel and the reviews weren't impressive, but it was a great location for our team to meet, so we choose this hotel. We arrived in the mid-day Friday, at the reception we were greeted by a wonderful gentleman. Had a cheerful and nice chat, before we went to our rooms. The rooms are big, and have extremely comfortable beds! After checking in we had lunch, and we were blown away - the club sandwich they served was one of the best I've ever had. At the end of Friday, we ordered a three-course-meal (that held the same standard.) We also had a wine tasting with Matthias and Ole, what a great experience! Next morning we were surprised by the size and how well equipped the gym at the hotel was. The breakfast also held a very high standard. The meeting rooms were great, with a lot of space and good coffee :-) After a long workshop we did some beer tasting with Ole while playing darts and watching Premier League in the sports bar. All in all, an outstanding experience! Thank you, Ole, Matthias and the rest of the staff :-)

  Surprisingly large family room and a nice breakfast

  On our way east we decided to stop along the road to give kids a break and stopped at Thon Hotel Hallngdal, that turned out to be a pleasant surprise. We ordered a family room on the web. The room was way larger than anticipated, with a bunk-bed for kids and the bath even had a tub. The breakfast was also a nice surprise with everything from waffles and pancakes to salmon and scrambled eggs...and an espresso machine...WiFi and parking were complimentary. The hotel has a good location close to the highway and railway station. Stores are just next door, All in all we got good value for the money and will sure stay there again on our way east or westwards along highway 7.

  Unfortunate visit

  We were unlucky enough to visit the hotel during a heat wave. We didn't expect air conditioning but hoped for a fan, but there were none. Ok, the temperature would surely drop - but our room overlooked the grill/outdoor bar and parking area. Despite the manager's assurance that it woukd be quiet at 10:00, 10:30 at the latest, the noisy crowd persisted until midnight, and loud smokers and departing guests woke me up at 6:30 a.m. the rooms were spacious and clean but the sofa was badly soiled and half the windows were painted shut. The worst hotel experience I have had in years. Don't take a room overlooking the grill!!

  Excellent

  Very big and spacious family room, 3 separated rooms. Good price. Great breakfast. Friendly and service minded staff. Coffee tea facilities. Stove. Fridge. Stayed 2 nights. Will easily stay again when in area.

  Open On Sunday

  Everything is closed in Norway on a Sunday so if you want coffee you will have to go to the Thon Hotel as it is the only thing open for coffee.... the super markets are open but dont expect to get a coffee
