Nice but not 'luxury'Hubby and I booked a 1 bedroom apartment for 11 days as we were in Cairns for study. We arrived just after 6pm and thankfully reception was still open. Karen seems like a lovely lady. She was very friendly and helpful and obliged whenever we had any questions. The room was decent enough for our stay, but isn't exactly what I would call 'luxury'. We were on the 3rd floor. The furniture was made of cane which was nice, but it was quite old. The cushions were quite faded and there was a board underneath the seat to it wasn't very comfortable. I'm guessing the furniture was made of cane because they would have had to walk it all the way up the stairs. There was a nice balcony, but we couldn't see the ocean due to the tree line. We could hear it which was nice. There is outdoor furniture so you can sit outside and watch the cars go by, and get a nice breeze in the afternoon. The unit was positioned well so that the bedroom didn't get too hot, and that you would get nice morning sun in the living area so that you weren't blinded by the sun in the morning. The apartment had all the necessities; full kitchen, a microwave, dishes, jug, toaster, washing machine and dryer. Very kindly, there is also some alfoil, glad wrap and dish washing liquid (you need to make sure the kitchen and dishes are clean prior to leaving; unfortunately for us, the dishes looked filthy when we first arrived and needed to clean them prior to using). The only problem was that the microwave and oven were quite dirty, the oven quite elderly but worked well. Unfortunately, the washing machine kept filling up with water. We drained the water and did the washing, however it smelt funky. We then tried to use the dryer, but all it seemed to do was heat up the water. The clothes seemed more wet when we got them out than when we put them in. We let them know, and hubby ended up having to go down to the Yorkey laundromat. We were grateful to be given a password for the wifi, however had next to no signal, so ended up buying a portable modem which worked much better. The location of the apartments was fantastic. Close to all that you could hope for, such as the beach, convenience shops, takeaways, Smithfield shopping centre, and JCU. We had a rental car which made getting around super easy (I highly recommend East Coast Car Rentals). Most afternoons we were able to go for a walk around the local streets which was great as it was nice and flat. I do however suggest wearing some mozzie spray as the mozzies can get a bit bitey there. When we went for a walk one afternoon, we noticed that there was a sign that said there was Austar; we didn't have that in our room. Downstairs, you can also find all the information that you could need about attractions in and around Cairns which is helpful. They also have some equipment for use. There is also a pool which looked nice, however it was a bit cool for us to go for a dip. We were there for 11 days total. Unfortunately, during this time, we weren't able to wash our towels. It might have been nice to be offered fresh ones after a few days, but it's not a serviced apartment, so not much could be done about that. Overall, the apartment was nice, but I wouldn't class it as luxury.

Yorkeys Knob accomodationNice location, good sized one bedroom apartment. Lovely grounds and pool. Beach across the road was disappointing but the Council do seem to be working on tidying up the foreshore. Occasional airplane taking off is only noise and it is not overly loud. Wouldn't say that the rooms are "luxurious" as stated in the advertising but certainly made a good base for exploring the region.

Beachside gemI lived here for almost 2 years (the units are used for long term as well as short term stays) and loved it. The York is right opposite Yorkeys Knob beach, a beautiful and relatively secluded beach that is still pleasantly underdeveloped and the complex backs onto a small rainforest. The facilities and services are first rate. The pool is large and great for a cool off, and the gardens are lush and well maintained - the whole place has a welcome laid back, holiday vibe. The Knob is close by and is great to walk up for exercise. The beach is also great to walk along (Id recommend sunset) . Graham & Karen are great hosts and know the area well (theyve been the hosts for many years). The Yorkeys Knob Boat Club and cafes are only a few minutes away. Wifi in the rooms is good and Foxtel is included (selected channels). The blue and white decor in the rooms creates a peaceful dnd relaxing atmosphere. A very special place.

25 days of paradiseWe stayed here for 31/2 weeks. The room was lovely, the grounds are beautiful, the hosts,Lorraine and Chris were accomodating, friendly and helpful. We have booked a similar holiday here next year. Great golf course and Yorkeys Knob is very central to everything we enjoy.

Absolutely fantastic stay.Wish we could have had longer! The owners are a wonderful couple and organised our excursions, transfers and provided us with great local advise. She arranged for us to have tea at the local marina-side restaurant (food was gorgeous). They even picked us up and brought us back, for free! It was so nice having the personal touch and made us feel so welcome as soon as we arrived. Apartment was air conditioned, clean, well equipt and welcoming, with lovely smelling complementary toiletries and complementary tea, coffee and milk. Situated in a lovely area opposite the beach and bus ride into Cairns, it was the ideal location. Handy shops and lovely cafe & bakery 10 minutes walk away (do lovely breakfasts and lunches). Would 100% recommend these apartments. The 113 bus from Cairns bus station stops at like 18:30pm, so after this, just hop on the 110 (Palm Cove) bus and get off at James Cook University, then you can get the 112 bus to Yorkeys Knob (more or less right outside the apartments!). Would highly recommend doing the trip to Fitzroy Island (voted the best beach in Aus apparently). Only 45 minutes on the boat from Cairns and provided us with snorkel & flippers for £99 for the whole day (08:00 boat out, 17:00 boat back). Never seen fish like it and we saw 4 wild large sea turtles! Breathtaking. Also did the Skyrail and train back, which we would recommend for the day! Taxi from airport costs around $45. Would love to return, if only we didn't live on the other side of the world! Thank you for our fantastic stay here.
