    Unbareable

Where to start?? We arrived exhausted after a 6 hour drive.Their card machine didnt work so my husband had to find a cash point to pay for the room. He asked if me and the kids could go in room early while he did that but told no. As a place. Its very run down. Warn furniture, carpets. Cracks in walls, plug sockets cracked away from wall. The TV didn't work. The WiFi barely worked. The shower was basically cold. The extractor fan didn't work. No soap at all(in a pandemic?)One of the beds was full of painful springs that my son couldnt sleep on. The breakfast was limited. The coffee at breakfast was just a packet I had to make myself. The room was unbareably hot. Even though it was cool outside. We asked for a fan and they said they couldn't find one. On the third time they found one but it didn't do anything unless you were right in front of it. The windows were locked from opening more than a crack so there was no way to cool the room down. We asked if it could be opened just for a bit to cool the room. They said no it was policy. When my husband asked again they said loudly in front of my 10 & 12 year old that it was because someone had commited suicide last year. Which made one of my kids cry himself to sleep. It was so hot we got little sleep. We ended up sleeping on the floor next to the fan and every hour or so I had to put my dog in the bath with some cold water because she was seriously overheating. Because of Corona I thought we were having breakfast in our rooms but it turned out we needed to go down for breakfast so we went down with our dog. We were understandibly told the dog couldn't go in there. But she is a puppy and seriously couldn't safely be left in that hot room plus she would probably chew everything out of anxiety. We overheard the staff say she had forgotten to tell us. Although there was no one else in teh resturant they said we would have to eat in the foyer on the sofas? The chef thankfully realised and put us in the bar. Then whenever the waitress came out dog started barking like mad. We were so embarrassed and I apologised and said she is just a puppy. She completely blanked me and after she left we heard her make a loud annoyed noise about us to another staff member. I was so embarrassed I ended leaving breakfast early. Awful experience. I would never stay there again.

    Good value and good location

We may have got the best room with a corner window with a good sea view. The hotel is very close to the beach and also to the shops. The room was large but the main part was badly lit with no main light and the wifi was erratic. Comfortable 4 poster bed and nicely furnished. Large TV. The bathroom was great - well lit and a bath and separate shower. Staff were helpful. We only stayed 4 nights so did not have the room serviced while we were there. Good off street parking.

3 star? You must be joking.

Not nice, really not nice. The only thing that was nice was checking out. Fortunately we were only there for one night. If you stay in this town pick another hotel. The windows were dirty the carpets were threaded, the bar closed at 9pm and the restaurant didnt open on Monday or Tuesday. How this is rated no 2 is beyond me.

    Expensive and run down

I've stayed here 4 times and it's never particularly cheap (around £50-£60 a night, without breakfast, compared to £30 for a Travelodge), considering that it is a very tired and run down hotel. It seems quite a big hotel, but it does need a full refurbishment. Carpets, walls, flooring are worn. It's extremely hot at night, and opening the window (the inch it opens) means you'll be woken at 4am by the LOUD seagulls. Mattress was thin and uncomfortable; pillows rock hard. No toiletries provided during the pandemic (not even soap). However: very convenient location, close to the seafront (but no views from the rooms), and very friendly staff. Worth £30 a night but not £60.

Rundown, dont waste money on breakfast!

We stayed here for a couple of days last weekend. As you walk through the hotel you can see it needs some money sending on it with thread bare carpets in places. The location is good (although surrounded buildings also quite run down), a few minutes walk to the beach. Breakfast was expensive for what you got and kids were charged the same as adults. It was very chaotic, order was incorrect and quality wasnt great (possible getting used to changes from buffet breakfast due to Covid). I recommend taking a five minute walk to the beefeater - adult breakfast is 50p more than the hotel, but kids eat free with a paying adult and quality is 100 times better!
