  Very nice hotel

  the hotel is situated inside a gated community roughly 30 minutes from Capetown international airport and less than 15 minutes away from Stellenbosch. It has a quiet and very beautiful location - all staff is extremely friendly

  Luxury all the way

  We didn't know what to expect when we booked The Wild Mushroom but we got luxury all the way. From the minute we arrived the feel of the accommodation, the facilities and the surroundings said luxury. It's in a gate community of luxury houses, this being the oldest and the only non residential property. All the staff were very attentive and accommodating. The bedroom and bathroom were large and extremely well appointed. The complimentary beverages included ground coffee, a nice change from the instant offered elsewhere. The pool was a good size for the number of guests that can be accommodated, set in a lovely garden, surrounded by citrus trees. Breakfast is served in the dining area and was of a very good quality. My only gripe was that the coffee was served one cup at a time and took a little while to arrive, but that did not spoil the enjoyment. The Wild Mushroom is set some 6 km out of Stellenbosch but only takes a few minutes to either drive or Uber. The wine tour picked us up and dropped outside the front door. All in all, we enjoyed our stay immensely and would certainly return.

  Acceptable place (sorry, but not much more than that).

  This is a house within a gated housing estate a short drive out of Stellenbosch and close to Spier wine estate. You will need a car, as there are no at attractions or amenities on the premises. If this is OK for you: it is a converted house, so I would say it's ideal for a group taking over the whole house and uses public areas jointly, or a large family. As a couple we found the proximity to the public area loud and intrusive, if you're at the ground floor. At the top floor you'd face noisy children playing outside. We were lucky as there was only one other couple for only one day of the stay. Breakfast is traditional and without too many choices, plain and tasty, but if you prefer to have a large choice, that's not the place for you. Room was very spacious and well appointed; Indeed - no soft pillows, but toiletries acceptable. Coffee plunger with a sachet provided with kettle (there's espresso machine - you can purchase coffee from the nearby bar area). No arrangement for Loadshedding except a lamp-torch you will receive. (No inverter nor generator). The person on site, Tania, was very hands on and when there were issues (no hot water and the room cold as you cannot make your own fire) she solved them very quickly. Having said all that - Stellenbosch and the area are full of charming accommodation options, and so this is truly not "luxury" and not charming in any way. But is is acceptable.

  Quality bed linen and pillows. Excellent breakfast and outstanding service. Honesty bar and microwave available. Mini fridge in room. Beautiful views towards the Helderberg from the pool and patio. Full DSTV TV channels.

  Lovely

  What a lovely venue! The rooms are beautifully appointed and Tania, the manager, is super helpful and obliging. The breakfast was freshly cooked and was most satisfying. The honesty bar 8s my favourite feature at this establishment which is close to maby of the top wine estates and sights in Stellenbosch.
