  Great little pub. In a lovely location. Would be ideally NEC only short drive from the exhibition centre. Rooms are lovely. Clean. Fresh towels and hairdryer. Friendly staff. Breakfast was good. With a good choice. Parking at the back of the pub. Would definitely stay again.

  Fabulous - just what we wanted!!

  We booked a 2 night stay at the White Lion around a day at the NEC. Easy booking, no fuss friendly welcome and straight up to a cosy room with all the essentials. We wanted a one stop shop, and we got it - no need to look elsewhere when you have a warm, friendly village pub with a great choice of beers and wines, a restaurant serving delicious hearty meals, efficient hosts who are welcoming and friendly, and all for a better price than a bland chain hotel. Two good nights sleep, two delicious evening meals, two quick fresh breakfasts and some good company from the owners. Relaxed, friendly, just no hassle.

  Quick pint

  We called in at the White Lion for a quick afternoon couple of pints, as we sometimes do, love this traditional old village pub, although I am biased as it was my local from 1970 to 1985, great beer and atmosphere, have not eaten here but heard food is good and nice restaurant area at the back. Car park was full so parked at village hall opposite.

  Saturday lunch

  Very disappointed. Had I thought, the lack of customers for a Saturday lunchtime spoke volumes. The food here used to be wonderful . Alas no more. Very poor indeed and will never return. Its a gem of a pub that is a potential goldmine but it falls short and its sad.

  Nearly a good stay !

  Stayed for a couple of days while exhibiting at an NEC show. Prices, like everywhere else within travelling distance of the show, were quite high. Maybe it's better value here when there's nothing on ? I had one of the rooms outside the hotel, maybe an old stable block or outbuilding of some sort ? The room was a good size and was lovely and warm with a decent size flatscreen on the wall. Furniture was err.. period ? Alittle old and tired but good enough for a short stay. Tea and coffee making facilities were available and it was a comfortable stay. Bathroom was a decent size with a shower cubicle. The shower was electric and was very poor - freezing cold or scalding on the high setting and although the lower setting gave a constant temperature, it was a pathetic dribble and took around 10 minutes to get wet ! A notice in the bathroom warned that the plumbing was old and flushing the loo or turning on the taps while showering would affect the temperature but it really was a poor excuse for a shower and really let things down. A full English breakfast was included and was very nice - freshly cooked to order and we were even able to ask for extras not on the menu. Maybe croissants and fruit would have made it perfect but it was a good start to the day. Not a bad stay by any means, would happily stay again.
