Fantastic roomStayed here in Dec 2019. Room was massive and impressive. True 5 star experience. Staff were very polite and friendly. Super clean room and the details in the room like hidden strip lighting make it a very pleasant experience. The bedlinen was superb with a variety of pillows to choose and get a great night sleep. Very quiet room and to top it off a magnificent view from my room over Perth.

Strange High Tea ExperienceWe have wanted to try the Hightea at the Westin Perth for a while now and decided to call and make a booking. I spoke with a lady on the phone who was very adamant that i had to pay straight away to make the booking as they were so busy, fair enough this isn't that uncommon but she kept repearing i had to pay asap to hold a table.. I Paid and booked for the Sunday 11am time slot. We drove and arrived at the hotel and it was very quiet at the front concierge - bearing in mind we had not been given any instructions over the phone or after the booking regarding parking etc. After waiting in the car we drove around to an underground carpark next to the entrance- again it was quiet and empty .. it looked like we were the only people here. We parked next to the lifts and upon entering a man with rather limited English asked us rather rudely ' Where are you going ' ! We told him we had a booking for Hightea and he just stood there looking at us confused. After 10mins of trying to talk to him he pulled out a radio , 5 mins later then he 'allowed' us into the lift and we went up to reception. This is when the Penny dropped.... We were greeted by a security guard and 2 army personnel, it was a Covid Quarantine Hotel ! ! ! The issue with this is our family is classed as high risk due to health conditions and we have to take extra care. NOT what you want to be constantly thinking about when going for a 5 star High Tea experience. The security guard was very nice and polite and showed us to the Lounge for our Tea. When we walked in the 2 staff members were fantastic- they were professional and polite and showed us to our table. There was only one other table of 4 in the whole place ( NOT fully booked like I was told on the phone ). The Meal. The food was very nice and fresh, all cooked well with mostly local ingredients. We had a few glasses of bubbles and ended up having a nice afternoon. Again the service was great and the only 2 members of staff on were always smiling and there if we needed anything. I would say that if you dont have a sweet tooth then you may struggle a bit as there was a lot of sweet treats over savoury- but all were very nice. They did a kids tea which a great addition and Violet had no issues eating all of it . Lol. We left the hotel and all we kept asking was why an earth did they not inform us about the hotel being used for government reasons ? It was not the experience and atmosphere we were expecting and as such 2 stars from us for the food and great service. I would think any hotel with a level of service would have let us know before paying about the quarantine guests and the procedure for entering and uaing the hotel facilities.

Don't Expect to get Inter connecting rooms if the manager doesn't like the look of you.So destined to spend Christmas in quarantine. We arrived on Sunday night 13/12 the Perth Airport staff from immigration and border force personnel to airport security staff and WA police were simply wonderful; friendly and very professional! The whole process was brilliantly executed. We arrived at the Westin feeling lucky that we were assigned to a nice hotel but the joyous feeling soon faded when they refused to put myself and my son (u18) in inter connecting rooms. The rooms are very nice, modern and spacious. Every member of staff at the airport told us that inter connecting would be no problem and the hotel would sort it out but that is not what happened. The nice young lady checking us in tried to help but the night manager took one look at us, flicked his wrist dimissivly and just said "no" Whilst I feel so blessed to live in WA and very lucky to be home, it would have been no drama for the hotel to put us in inter connecting rooms and would have made Christmas in quarantine so much more pleasant. The airport staff tried everything they could to make us feel welcome and at ease in a very unique situation where as the snooty Westin manager was just interested in heading us in and making sure that I understood that I would have to pay $5000 which I am happy to pay but a little Christmas spirit would have been nice Westin. My friends, colleagues and clients and I spend $1000's on hotels every year, the Westin is now firmly stricken from the list. Merry Christmas!

Detainee or not detaineeThats my question? After being diverted here from a Melbourne flight I soon discovered that you are treat no better than a common criminal by being locked into a room with no fresh air ventilation nor any chance of physical exercise (because Im not a so called professional athlete) This hotel claims 5* status yet as I was unable to avail of its facilities beyond room 1518 it is not possible to mark it as such and I only give it a 4 rating due to the standard of room I was allocated during my solitary confinement period plus the staff displayed fantastic customer relations skills during these draconian times. Great view, fantastic artistic literature, poor quality food even when purchased at own cost.
