Good home cooked foodBooked here for a dinner as we were staying nearby, very relaxed atmosphere with welcoming staff. A typical country pub with plenty of drink choice. The food was lovely all round, rustic homemade curry, meat pies and burgers.

Great little GemRidden past the West Country Inn countless times but only recently stopped in and discovered an amazing friendly inn. Laura is genuinely keen to help and make sure customers get rhe best service possible. Have enjoyed several excellent meals and look forward to many more. Even when they're busy and rushed, nothing seems too much for them to help. Keep it up, worth the journey for anyone.

Need desperate update to roomBooked a three night stay in September, @87.00 per night. Admittingly we got there at 10am. I walked in to let them we had arrived and that we had a room booked for 3nights, i said i know we're early only to be greeted that checking is not 2pm but 5pm...Blamed it on covid and rooms had to cleaned. This turned out to be untrue as the owner has taken a teaching job, so the place is closed between 2pm and 5pm. We went away feeling a little let down by the response. We came back after 5pm and was advised that our room had been upgraded, i thought this was a good thing, until we got into the room. The bathroom had black mould on the ceiling and on the wall near the window, there were hairs at the back of the shower, which i had to clean myself. My partner was not impressed. We didn't report this as we were advised were not going to get our rooms cleaned during our stay. There were cobwebs behind the bed and the plug socket was hanging off the wall. The bathroom door was also hard to close. Mattress needs replacing as you can feel the springs. Also pillows need chucking out and new ones bought. Please throw away the pillow in the cupboard as it was all stained . Now the food. It was ok but we found it over priced for what it was. The starters calamari very expensive for 6 pieces that looked like something out of Iceland. The service wasn't much better due to not enough staff, ring a bell and wait until someone comes to serve you. It's a real shame as this place could be fab if a little bit of money is spent doing the rooms up a bit.

DisrespectfulI have a buyagift voucher from my daughter. I emailed the West country inn twice about a booking. I never had a reply. Last week I phoned them and I was told the lady of the bookings would come back to me. Yesterday I phoned them again. Now I was told the lady was very busy with a back log of emails??? I said I tried to book accommodation for Friday 16th October. She asked me if I had a voucher. I replied with yes. Then she told me that they could be fully booked for buyagift vouchers. She told me she would leave a note for the booking lady to email me last night. Guess what? No reply. If those people complain about restrictions due to covid and making money, I don't think this is the way to treat customers. I'm going to book accommodation somewhere else and will advise other people not to book this West Country Inn, also on other social media

Seen better days: needs loveThis place has seen better days and "lacks love". We were there for food and drink, not overnight. The menu tries to be more than pub grub but largely fails in that ambition. It is really a pub with rooms. Food was prepared effectively and was tasty. Portions were generous and not all finished. Service was adequate but they didnt even offer desserts or coffees. There is little atmosphere. This place needs an injection of love
